Ms. Ballard uses drinking to escape her problems and ends up running Arnaz off. He hids out with Breanna to escape her.
Arnaz finally faces his issues with his mother and convinces her to get help with counseling.
While the episode is the start of writting Arnaz's mother out of the series, it does offer a message to those with drinking problems. THey should seek help before they hurt someone they care about.moreless

In order to escape his mother Cheryl's drinking, Arnaz hides out in Breanna's room, but after Arnaz turns to Flex for support, his mother physically abuses him, forcing Flex to convince Cheryl to get some help for her problem.
