It was clearly not going to be an easy ride after high school and that's the message that 4 Years, 6 Months, 2 Days gave in it's 40 minutes.

So where are the characters now? Brooke is running Clothes Over Bro's, which is now a massively successful company. But she struggles to find happiness in her work, mainly due to Victoria (nice how they don't reveal who she is yet). Peyton is an assistant to the assistant in LA but really isn't happy at all. And she and Lucas are not together anymore. Both these storylines, especially the latter were pretty depressing considering how hopeful the forth season finale was BUT being back in Tree Hill should help them.

None of this compares to Nathan who after a fight is now in a wheelchair and in self-destruct mode. Horribly, he and Haley are struggling as he's neglecting her and Jamie - who is incredibly cute and I almost wish he never grew up because he has already created a wonderful dynamic for the show. But Haley does have a job teaching and is looking great too. Besides all that angst - Lucas published a book but is finding it hard to write another. And he's in a relationship with his editor Lindsey. Bold move pulling he and Peyton part. Oh and Mouth is trying but failing to get a job.

In fact, all of this premier was pretty bold. No one seems to be completely happy and the drama has already begun.

Four Years Later

First off I hate Lindsey. I hated her the moment we met her and whenever I watch this season over I still hate her. I'm a Leyton fan. Lucas and Peyton belong together and Lindsey has to go!!

Anyway, now that I have that said I thought this episode was great. This whole season was. I think the time jump idea was a risky one, but it worked. It gave the writers and the actors a change to explore whole new stories and sides of the show and their characters. Because it's still One Tree Hill we already know who the people are so we don't have to get to know them, but because it's been four years we have to get to know who they are now. The kids from Tree Hill did there major growing up in high school so showing them in college was not necessary and with everyone going off in different directions after high school it would have been to difficult to shoot and make the show great if these characters that are such great friends are apart when they should be together.

Brooke: I love that she has found success in her line. It's so amazing that Clothes Over Bros is now this big company. I love that her company is different then others, too in that she doesn't want models that are super skinny. And it was great that she decided to come home.

Peyton: I love Peyton and this episode was very Peyton heavy. It was focused on her realizing that L.A. wasn't the place for her and she decided to come home. I love that she has so many copies of Lucas' book even though they are no longer together. It's clear she still loves him.

Lucas: He had his book published, he's living at home, and is now the coach of the Ravens. I love that he is coaching the Ravens because he mentioned that in season 4 one time when he was talking to Glenda. His book was published which is so amazing for him. I just wish they would really publish it so the fans could read it. And of course he has a new girlfriend, his editor, Lindsey. Yuck!!

Haley: She said in season 4 that she wanted to be a teacher and now she is teaching at Tree Hill High. I love it. I felt bad for her though because she is new and the class and mostly Quentin are trying to take advantage of that.

Nathan: This sucks!! His is the one storyline that I really don't like. I hate that he had that accident and is now in a wheelchair. After all the effort and drama in season 4 with him losing his scholarship and Whitey asking him to play for him in college and now he might never play again. James Lafferty played this version of Nathan well, but I still don't like it.

Jamie: This kid is so dang cute!! Most of the time kids on show are thrown in for the cute factor and are usually not that great of actors, but Jackson Brundage is both. He is super adorable, but he also a good actor. He plays his role so well and he works great with the other characters. I love him.

I love that Mouth, Skills, Junk, and Fergie are all living together and still basically just the same as they were in high school. They they hang out at home and play video games, but they also still hang out at the River Court, only now they have Jamie along, too.moreless

This is so much different from what the show used to be like … why 4 years later all of a sudden?

After last season I think it is kind of strange to continue the story as if it were 4 years later now. I was really looking forward to the continuing of the storyline from last season and was expecting the lives of the characters to continue half a year later … and not - all of a sudden - 4 years later. In my opinion it would have been so much nicer if the storyline would have just continued where they had left off. Also I think it is a shame that the character of James Lafferty is acting like a whiny brat! ;-) … Over all I am just not impressed with what the writers of the show did to it. Hope it has nothing to do with the strike they had a few month ago! ;-)

Judging by the rest of the ratings given on this episode (s05e01) I am a loner in my opinion, but hey, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, right?!! :-)

I do hope the show will at least change a little bit back to the way it was, otherwise I have one less show to watch …moreless

Maybe it's wasn't realistic, but it was very enjoyable. Great episode!

One Tree Hill finally returned with an awesome two hour premiere... I loved it! People are saying how Brooke's storyline was dumb and unrealistic... She's 22 and already has a multi-million company... Yeah, okay... But nobody complains about Jack Bauer saving the day the last minute for the 7th time or everyone hooking up with everyone on Grey's Anatomy... A show doesn't have to be realistic to be enjoyable...

I think the acting got a little better, cause finally the actors can be more natural, because of the much, much smaller age difference... Loved the transformation of Karen's cafe into Brooke's new "office"... Some new characters, I really liked Lindsay... And even the little kid is believable...Which is a great plus... I hate seeing little kids just saying random stuff and then everyone goes Awww... (You can tell I don't like little kids :D ) And yes, are Karen, Dan and Deb returning??

Overall, Tree Hill is back and it's kicking a$$! :D Season 4 was becoming a joke, seriously, but things just got a lot better :)moreless

I was a little skeptical when i heard about the 4 years later bit, its something that has to be done in the right way and the right way was what the OTH writers achieved. We were told just enough about what was going on to know where we were but not all was given away so of course we, or at least i was hooked. The characters have changed and moved on enough to need the 4 years but not too much so that it isnt believable. The way that the characters changed worked really well, and was what i would have liked to happen. I am so glad that it is back and i cant wait to see more.moreless
