The name Chad Michael Murray is pretty much synonymous with One Tree Hill. The actor has appeared in 130 episodes of the CW drama since it first aired in 2003--but now it appears that number won't be going up.
There have been rumors around the Web that Chad Michael Murray is leaving the CW's One Tree Hill for good at the conclusion of the season, much to the chagrin of the show's fans. Last month, fan site OneTreeHillFans.com cited sources who say Murray has not renewed his contract with the drama, and wants to move on for personal and professional reasons.
NEW YORK CITY--The CW is still The CW. Just because there's a shiny new fall season ahead, it doesn't mean that the network will leapfrog any of the competition to become a major player this season. But it does know what its specialty is--attracting young viewers. CW president of entertainment Dawn Ostroff discusses the decisions to not have any comedies in the lineup, and the future of One Tree Hill without its two stars.
The CW network has extended the lives of two of its shows, college detective Veronica Mars and teen drama One Tree Hill. Both shows have been given orders for three more episodes apiece.
Mars has held steady since its third-season premier in October, matching its series-best ratings and retaining much of its Gilmore Girls lead-in. At the TCA in July, show-runner Rob Thomas said he was "acting like man who had been given a full season order."
Hill has seen ratings growth this season, retaining almost 90 percent of its America's Next Top Model lead-in teen audience. The show beat Fox's The O.C. last week in adults 18 to 49, with a 1.6 rating/4 share and has improved 14 percent in the demo compared to last year.

One Tree Hill star Chad Michael Murray is engaged to showmate Kenzie Dalton, People reports today.
Murray, 24, met Dalton, 18, when she played a cheerleader extra on the show, and the two have been dating since December. The couple is denying an unexpected pregnancy being the reason they are tying the knot.
This marks the second time Murray has grown close to a One Tree Hill costar.
Murray and costar Sophia Bush married in April 2005, in a highly publicized ocean-side ceremony. Five months later, the couple seperated amid rumors of infidelity on Murray's part. In February, Bush sought to annul their union on grounds of "fraud."
Now, both appear to have moved on--Murray with Dalton and Bush with Murray-resembling actor Austin Nichols, who appeared in the sci-fi flick Day After Tomorrow.
One Tree Hill is on the WB network, and it is unclear whether the show is ...Read more

Set in the fictional small town of Tree Hill, NC, this teen-driven drama tells the story of two half brothers, who share a last name and nothing else. Brooding, blue-collar Lucas is a talented street-side basketball player, but his skills are appreciated only by his friends at the river court. Popular, affluent Nathan basks in the hero-worship of the town, as the star of his high school team. And both boys are the son of former college ball player, Dan Scott, whose long ago choice to abandon Lucas and his mother Karen, will haunt him long into his life with wife Deb, and their son Nathan. Until now, Dan has managed to keep his two sons far from each other. But the past and present collide sharply when Tree Hill's basketball coach recruits Lucas for his team, much to the chagrin of Nathan and Daddy Dan. And the siblings natural rivalry only intensifies when they set their sights on the same girl, Peyton Sawyer. The residue of the past lingers far into the future for the residents of Tree Hill, even as a new generation is rising. Tree Hill follows the lives and loves of these two brothers, their friends and their family as they navigate high school, marriage, and finally...adulthood.
