I really enjoyed the USO show and all of the storylines in Even Fairy Tale Characters Would Be Jealous.

Haley being nervous about performing at the show was cute and I loved her song as always. Mia returning was quite nice too cos it's been a while. I like the growing relationship between Brooke and Samantha too - though that ending where Sam sees Brooke on the phone is worrying for sure. I even enjoyed Millie and Mouth fighting over Gigi, who I hate more by the episode. I like Millie and her feisty side is cool too.

I liked how the Leyton drama wasn't too serious and that it all was okay in the end. Loved Brooke giving Julian a piece of her mind (who'd have thought that these two would end up together, eh?). And Lucas letting it go was good because Peyton did have to deal with Lindsey. Nathan seeing Q's ghost was pretty silly but got the point across...don't give up your dreams!

A different episode that continues the development of the season well.

I loved most of this episode. It felt a bit like the benefit concert episode from season 3 except without all the time capsule drama. I loved all the performances, but I was not a fan of the whole Nathan seeing Q thing. That was a little weird, but I guess since he wasn't going to the concert that had to give him something to do instead of just sitting there at home watching Slamball.

Haley was awesome!! I loved seeing her perform again. She is great. Mia was amazing, too. I've missed her and it was nice seeing her again. And of course the big act of Angels and Airwaves. We've heard their music on the show before so it was cool getting to see them on the show.

I loved that Lucas punched Julian and it was so funny when he went to Nathan because he hoped he would be proud of him. It was really funny. I love the friendship between Nathan and Lucas. It was also really funny when Haley laughed at the whole thing because it was drama that had nothing to do with them.

It was so great seeing Derek once again and it's nice that he is ready to let go of his anger about the family he doesn't have and appreciate what he does have. It was also really funny of Brooke to tell Julian to back off.moreless
  • What could have been a hackneyed cliche, turned into a beautifully crafted and well acted episode...

    8.5
Using ghosts from the past to teach the protagonist a lesson is hardly a new idea; it spawns even farther back than A Christmas Carol. So when I first learned they were bringing Quentin back from the dead to teach Nathan a lesson about embracing life and living it to the fullest, I was a little irritated. Couldn't they come up with something a bit more fresh, a bit more clever? There are times when I am glad to be wrong and this is one of them. Robbie Jones gave a knockout performance during his speech to Nathan. It was neither cliche nor hackneyed. It was poignant, honest, eloquent and unguarded. For once Q was serious as he dead-eyed his friend and told him that he couldn't let the fear of striking out keep him from playing the game. Or something like that. The raw anguish on Q's face was so believable that tears started to form in my own eyes as I watched them form in his. Robbie Jones outshone James Lafferty (Nathan Scott) in this episode, but perhaps it's because he was given so much to work with. Also great in this episode was the flirtatious interaction between Brooke and Julian. There is definite sparkage between those two. How is it that Brooke and Peyton (and by extension Sophia and Hilarie) always have enormous chemistry with the same men? Speaking of sparks flying, how great was Millicent's little trap? That phone call to Mouth was great. I loved how she set him up, watched him squirm, and finally called him out at the last second, before slamming down the phone. Wow! For someone who first came across like a scared little guppy, she sure is coming into her own. I can't leave without touching on the USO concert which was amazing. Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley Scott) has a beautiful melodic voice that I could listen to for hours. Kate Voegele (Mia) has pipes like I've rarely heard and she definitely stole the show... that girl is going places. All in all, a well-written, well-crafted, and well-acted episode. It's nice to see One Tree Hill getting back on top where it belongs.moreless

I am soooo happy that Haley finally got up on stage again! i felt bad that she had that nightmare though! wow to Kate Voegele's return I had actually forgot that she was supposed to come on tonight's episode until i read about it on myspace. her new song is absoutely amazing. I loved the song that Kate performed and I am extremely happy that Bethany performed her new song "Feel This" I thought that was awesome. where was Jamie in this episode. this was a very big episode music wise anyways. It's weird that Brooke is adapting again but it's very very good! i am happy that she is making a life for herself. Now to the mouth/gigi/and Millie story line i'm sorry Mark but was that really necessary? I didn't think that Mouth was gunna be such a sleeze to do that to Millie honestly that's what i would've thought right away anyways yea that's my review let me know what you think congratulations Kate you were amazing tonight in this episode!moreless
  • On the night of Peyton's USO show every has their issues to get over.

I love the live music episodes, this one was definatley huge, from the crowd to the acts.

While the whole cast was practically at the show, Nathan stayed behind to rest up and get a visit from Q. Q returned to give Nathan some perspective on his future as a basketball player. Personally i feel that Nathan should be playing ball, even if it is Slamball, it is still his dream.

The whole Julian story is getting interesting, since he met Brooke Davis.

Who definitely is not getting a baby after taking in a teenager, it was so eay to spot by the phone call. I am wondering what this will say for Sam, who began bonding with Mia and Peyton.

The more interesting arc of the night went to Millie who is furious with Marvin over his relationship with Gigi. Gigi is being totally inappropriate as an employee and person, and I cannot wait for more catfights between these two.

Overall it was a typical concert episode, with a few added twists, and I kind of want to know more about Chester's imaginary friend Orville.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • The fifth and sixth seasons are set four years in the future from the end of season four, which would make the current year 2011. When Nathan is watching a slamball game, the announcer says "Slashers Win the 2008 Championship." That is a game Nathan is supposed to be playing in.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Brooke: (to Julian) I think it's pretty clear from the book that if you're not Lucas or Peyton, you should just forget about it.

    • Brooke: (to Julian) Then you should know that being the third person in the Lucas and Peyton love triangle doesn't end well.

    • Lucas: You know, it's hard for me to know that you were in love with this guy. But you've been so strong and so good to me when I've strayed from us. So I'm gonna try to let it go, okay? Besides, who wouldn't fall in love with you, Peyton Sawyer?

    • Brooke: But Lucas, you almost married Lindsay. Julian was just a rebound.
Lucas: You fall in love with rebounds?
Brooke: Every time. But it's not real love. Your head tricks you into it to protect you from the crushing pain your heart is putting you through.

    • Sam: Hell, you're like the new Angelina!

    • Haley: I had a dream last night that I forgot all the words to my song. What am I gonna do if that happens tonight?
Nathan: Do you have any instrumental hits?

    • Nathan: There's more to life than basketball.
      Quentin: Oh, is that right?
Nathan: Every time I get to see Jamie laugh, it's a dream come true. Every time I get to hold Haley, it's a dream come true. They are my life.
Quentin: Then you owe it to them to be the very best version of yourself. The version where you fight for what you want. The version where you're not afraid to be great. You're better for them when you live in your dreams, man. And there is nothing, nothing selfish about that.

    • Nathan: Look, I worked hard, and my dreams started to come true again. And I started to believe that people just go through things... challenges that make them stronger. And then you were gone. I showed up at that river court and you never came and that was it. Just like that. And I realized that we're not invincible. Dreams die.
Quentin: So what, huh? What you gonna do, Nate? Sit here on this couch and watch ball on TV, afraid to live? That's what you're gonna do? That really pisses me off, Nate. You know why? Cause you got a second chance, man. You did. I wish I did.

    • Millicent: There was a girl in my bed.
      Brooke: Are you coming out?
Millicent: No! It was Gigi. She was in my bed!
Brooke: Wait. You and Mouth had a three way with the hot high school ex? Really?

    • Haley: We all make different choices and we need different things. But I think eventually we learn to define happiness for ourselves, on our own terms, in spite of the pain other people have caused us."
