The only season of The OC I liked better than OTH was season 1.

I like them both equally. The OC was the first show I was ever obsessed with (besides Buffy) and I love it just as much as I love OTH.

The OC did have a lot more 'darkness' for lack of a better term, and the drama was slightly more severe than the drama of OTH at some points. OTH is a bit lighter in some areas, but it doesnt necessarily mean its better or worse. I really can't say that I like one over the other.

That didn't make much sense...it sounded better in my head lol.

I think the OC has more comedy than the OTH (well comedy that's actually funny) and the drama is heavier at the same time.

Mandaa you're a Buffy watcher? What did you think of season 6 a.k.a. the Soft-core porn spuffy season?

I'm not a Buffy watcher... I'm a Buffy addict! lol. S6 was alright, I mean I'm a BA fan, but BS was hot though sometimes a bit too graphic for my taste lol. I think the highlight of that entire season was the last 4 or so episodes with the whole Tara/Willow/Evil Willow thing. Dawn's behavior bugged the crap out of me, thank god she grew up and started acting like a human in S7 or I would have gone insane. S6 showed a lot of real-life issues going on in the gang, like Buffy's money problems, Dawn's stealing issue etc etc. It didnt thrill me except for maybe the opener with Buffy coming back, and the finale... the stuff in the middle was ehhh.

It didnt compare to the amazing-ness that was S5 lol. But it was better than S4 by a long shot.

You mean OTH is boring compared to OC? 'Cause I know you can't mean what you said, 'cause what happens in The OC in one episodes takes OTH 9 episodes to tell! Where OTH needed 6 episodes to build the best finale they had, The OC needed 2. I'm sorry but in The OC happens soooo incredibly much that every character has 4 storylines in one episode. OTH goes incredibly slow and builts on the cliche. Where someone would get caught for doing something that looks like a crime in OTH, in The OC they just feel that tention and the story moves forward. I'm sorry, but OTH is just slower.

    I agree!

^I highly advise you to buy season 1 and 2 of the OC DVDs, seriously, tis just much MUCH better. EVen season 3 and 4 are better than OTH, the only season of OTH that can compare to at least season 3 and 4 of the OC are 3 and 1.

    And I agree!

I seriously CANNOT understand how someone could prefer OTH, I mean I like the show but for me there is just no comparison, the characters, story-telling, comedy, drama, everything is much better on The OC, the quality is so much higher. I think it's really interesting how people can say the exact opposite, I guess it's just personal preference.

I agree, I'll always be an avid fan of season 1 though. I wasn't a spuffy fan (and yes, they were too graphic) but I wasn't a bangel fan either, simply because I was an AVID Angel watcher and I loved Angel/Cordelia (its funny because I was rooting for angel/cordelia even before the angel show even started).

I loved BA, but on Angel I did love Angel/Cordy because Cordelia was such a different person in Angel then she was on Buffy. I always thought by liking AC, I was betraying BA somehow lol.

S2 and S5 were my favorite seasons of Buffy. S1 and S4 were my favorite seasons of Angel (I found the whole Beast/Evil Cordy/Faith/Angelus arc to be amazing..I loved it even though most fans hated that season)

IMO the best season of Angel was season 3, during the Connor arc and a the apocolypse coming and Angelus and Cordy losing her memory.

    AngeL: Were we in love?

    Cordy: We were...

always remains my favorite Angel moment ever.

I will give you 1-3, because they are my faves but season 4 was so god-awful I would prefer season 2 of OTH over season 4 of the OC anyday. And the OC is my fave show so thats sayin alot.

Anyway, I also disagree with whoever said the OC is darker than OTH. OTH is MUCH darker..look at how storylines they have that are dark: the school shooting, the fire, the stalker, and Im sure theres others Im forgetin. The OC was more comedic than OTH, OTH has more of a serious feel to it.

I thought the first season of OTH was pretty dark, but after that they wanted to be this light headed yet dramatic show at once (which they aren't good at, 'cause after seeing that perfect combination in The OC, everything else just fades away). The school shooting and everything were dramatic and somewhat dark, but The OC was more of both. They had this whole dark Ryan background and all the dirt that was going on under the sun, which was a great combination of light storylines mixed with dark storylines.

But both shows don't compare to darker shows like, I donno, The Black Donnellys?

Hmm..I dont know what that is so I couldnt say..

As far as OTH goes, Id have to say season 1 was like the least dark, or maybe 2 IDK. But season 3 Id have to say was the most out of the ones Ive seen but I cant really remember its all like one big blur with what happened when lol (ive only seen 1-3 once). As far as the OC goes (which ive watched dozens of times except for season 4) Id have to say the Trey shooting..maybe Charlotte?

I mean the way that OTH handles tragedy and other things (Jimmy, Keith, etc) is much darker and more serious than the OC with it. Ill give some example. When the nana came out and said she had cancer to everyone, it wasnt like a big bummer throughout the whole episode like it was with Elle on OTH. Another example is when Brooke goes to NYC and goes to that club and everyones doing heroin or whatever drug it was (I forget), it had a very weird/creepy vibe. The only thing close to that on the OC is when they go to LA and Hailey is doing coke but thats like a fraction as dark as OTH. Theres many other examples but I cant think ATM.

I think OTH is more dark, but I guess to each his own.

Yeah, of course, it's just what attracts you the most and think is "dark" for such a light show. (btw The Black Donnellys is about four brothers living the gang life in the streets of NY, darkest show I've ever seen)

Ya, I watched that too, mainly because Olivia Wilde was in it! The first episode blew me away, it was amazing, but then it just kinda went downhill and no episode lived up to it. It got kinda repetitive too with them every week trying to get money or sort out some debt... And did we ever find out what actually happened and why that guy was in prison?!

No, I don't think so, but then again the series wasn't supposed to last only 13 episodes Bought the DVD this week btw. But at least with the Donnellys we got kind of a closing ending...

Well the OC was short lived and OTH goes into the realm of unrealism a little too often for me. It really doesnt matter to me because they both arent my favorite tv shows and honestly I have seen other teen dramas or dramas a lot better than OTH! I cant say the same for the OC cause I havent seen the whole series.
