In this episode, the closing voice-over was made by Peyton and not by Lucas.
Ironically, Owen takes Brooke's keys away from her when she's drunk; in high school, Brooke organized a safe ride program for called "D-W-Not I."
The medic, who is checking over Quentin while Nathan is telling Quentin how punching Jason could lead to him not being able to play, is the same medic from season three.
Goof: In the scene when Carrie and Nathan take some coffee, as the coffee pot appears in and out of camera, it goes from almost full, to almost empty after serving only half a cup, and then magically to half full.
Owen: I assume you're not high jacking me?
Brooke: You said you wanted to know what was under the clothes…
Owen: I was being existential…
Brooke: I was being literal…answer is.
Owen: (turning around) You make two fantastic points. (turns to face the wheel) I should be getting home.
Brooke: What?! You're turning down naked me? Nobody turns down naked me!
Owen: Relax! It was a joke. You win.
Owen: Absolutely. Let's have sex Brooke Davis. Your place or mine?
Brooke: (starts putting her clothes on) As if! (leans forward) You haven't earned that bartender point yet. (kisses Owen on a cheek) Sleep tight. (gets out)
Owen: (looks surprised) Atta girl…
Brooke: That's the things! It's not what he says, it's the way he says it. He, honestly, acts like he's above me, which is ridiculous! He's a bartender! He mixes drinks for a living!
Jamie: Like chocolate milk?
Brooke: Not exactly…
Jamie: Are you gonna kill furry woodland creatures?
Brooke: I most certainly am not gonna kill furry woodland creatures.
Jamie: (sticking out his baby finger) Promise?
Brooke: Pinky swear ya! And where was I? Oh! He should be so lucky! I am Brooke Davis!
Jamie: Brooke Penelope Davis.
Brooke: Exactly! Besides, what has he even said to make me think he's worth my time?
Jamie: What's underneath all the clothes, Brooke Davis?
Brooke: How old are you again?
(Jamie shows her four fingers)
Brooke: Alright. One more scoop for the boy genius but don't tell your mom. Come on.
(Peyton's in the graveyard visiting her mother's grave)
Peyton: Hi mom. So is there any way that there's like a cosmic loophole that could allow you to talk to me? 'Cause I could really use one of those mother/daughter talks all the other girls are raving about. Alright… well… um… Lucas has asked another girl to marry him. I know right, who does he think he is asking some beautiful, brilliant, successful editor over the unemployed girl who said someday. What do I do now mom? Where do I go from here? (sees a leaf shaped like a heart fall near Keith's headstone)
(Nathan and Skills watching game footage in Lucas' office)
Skills: Man, we ain't never gonna beat Le Sal if you gonna be late.
Nathan: Actually were never gonna beat Le Sal even if you're on time.
Lucas: Well, maybe I should have spent last night planning a strategy to win instead of getting engaged.
Skills: Definitely... wait, hold on, did you just say engaged?
(Nate and Skills hug Lucas)
Nathan: Congratulations big brother that's awesome
Skills: No doubt baby way to go! So… who's the lucky girl?
Lucas: You're kidding right?
Nathan: No that's a legit question. I mean we figure with Peyton back in town it could be anybody's ballgame.
Skills: It could even Brooke by now, right.
Lucas: Stop… its Lindsey.
Skills: Excellent choice!
Nathan: Looks like things may work out for you after all.
Lucas: I was waiting to give you the ring until I was sure I had another book in me. I just don't want you to end up regretting me because I can't finish.
Lindsey: I would never regret you
Lucas: You say that now but what if I'm not Lucas the writer, but Lucas the small town basketball couch. What if that's all I'm ever gonna be!
Lindsey: Then I'd be the small town basketball coach's wife. Look at me Lucas! I don't love you for your book, I love you for the mind that book sprung from. And I don't care if you never write another word again. You will always be more than a small town basketball coach… because you'll be the man that I love.
Mouth: Hi. I've been thinking about what you said early, and I get it. I wouldn't want to date you if you were sleeping with your boss either.
Mouth: No, Victoria.
Mouth: I would totally date you if you were sleeping with Brooke.
(Brooke finds Peyton crying on their couch with Lucas' book in her arms)
Brooke: Tell me you are not lying here torturing yourself with a copy of Lucas' book.
Peyton: (quoting from the book) In that moment my triumph was not a state championship, but a moment of clarity.
Brooke: I've read it honey, I know how it ends.
Peyton: (crying) That's funny, cause it seems Lucas has forgotten. Oh Brooke, he asked Lindsey to marry him.
Brooke: What? That's crazy.
Peyton: Maybe, or maybe crazy is me, thinking that he could still have feelings for me after all these years.
Brooke: But we both know Lucas has a history of throwing himself into the wrong relationship, especially when he can't admit the truth about who he loves.
Peyton: If you wanted to break my heart there are a thousand ways you could do it, you did not have to propose to Lindsey to hurt me.
Lucas: It didn't have anything to do with you, it's just, weird timing.
Peyton: Weird timing, okay Luke.
Lucas: I know that it must seem like (she cuts him off)
Peyton: No, don't marry her, Luke!
Lucas: Peyton you can't...
Peyton: Am I crazy? Do you not feel what I have felt every day that we've been apart for the last three years? Because I have felt there is this vital piece of me that's been missing. And I tried to fill it, Luke. I tried to fill it...with work and friends and music. And it stayed empty until last night when you kissed me. And my entire universe snapped back into focus. Lucas, look me in the eye & tell me that that kiss did not feel exactly the same as it felt three years ago.
Lucas: I'm in love with her, Peyton.
Lucas: (voiceover) Suddenly it was as if the roar of the crowd, and the cheers of my teammates were all sounding from a thousand miles away, and what remained in that bizarre muffled silence was only Peyton, the girl whose art and passion and beauty had changed my life. In that moment, my triumph was not a state championship but simple clarity, the realization that we'd always been meant for each other and every instinct to the contrary had simply been a denial of the following truth: I was now and always would be in love with Peyton Sawyer.
Peyton: (voiceover) Dear Molly, this is gonna sound a little strange but I'd like you to paint over my old closet door. The thing is there is never a time when you will be more honest, and your convictions will be stronger, and your motives will be more pure than they are right now. Which means you should chase whatever excites you. Be confident, and take risks, and paint over my words so you can start writing your own. My story may have inspired you, but I'm certain your story will inspire the next girl to live in our room. I want you to know you don't need somebody to write about you in order for your life to mean something. You can write about yourself… make your own destiny. Then years from now the next girl will keep what you write on that door long enough to remind you how inspired your life is. And you can tell that girl to paint over the door because you realize the words you wrote, the friends you had, the urgency you felt will always be there under the paint. The love you professed will always be there, the spark of something undeniable, a seed of hope, the truth for better or for worse burning fiercely just below the surface. Love Peyton.
Peyton: Hey… think maybe Whitey will let you out of practice early so we can catch a movie?
Lucas: What are you doing Peyton?
Peyton: Just pretending for a second that we're still seventeen and nothing's changed. Would you believe I actually met a girl that lives vicariously through us? At least us in the book.
Lucas: Sure I do. It was a great story to be a part of but it also took place a long time ago.
Peyton: I know. I didn't come here to rehash the past. I was reminded today in a roundabout way that the most perfect act of love is sacrifice. It's what Keith did for Karen; burying his feelings for her for all those years so he could be a good friend. (grabs his hand) I love you Lucas. (starts to tear up) And I think I have since the first moment we locked eyes and it is going to suck but if what you want is for me to let go then I'm gonna do it. Be happy Luke. I want that with all my heart. (kisses his hand and walks away)
-Mia goes to Brooke and Peyton's house, and sees Peyton with a hangover.
-During practice, Quentin misses a shot, and Lucas, Nathan and Skills look worried. Then, Mouth arrives, and he leaves with Lucas for the interview.
-Brooke goes to Tric to apologize to Owen, and even though he apologizes back, he tells her that her "act to score with him" isn't working. She leaves and goes to his car and strips.
