  • Nathan is bitter.

    8.5
A quiet episode that's actually kind of big.

Nathan's downward spiral begins. I feel really sorry for him and completely get why he'd be angry and upset. His scene with Karen at the end was quite moving and sad. I liked how he started out telling Peyton that he agrees that 'people always leave' and she drew him a picture of 'sometimes they come back'. Speaking of Peyton, I loved how she and Jake finally kissed. They are really good together and the family thing with Jenny is cute. I think I ship them...

Brooke winning the election was great! I even liked Mouths speech. NO FELIX WAS AMAZING. Dan and Lucas...it's so odd seeing them get on. But good old Andy has something up his sleeve. Lots of stuff to come; Keith's wedding and more Nathan drama.

  • Brooke Wins!!

    8.5
Haley's gone and Nathan is a mess. I feel so bad for him. He doesn't know what to do with himself. He is hurting so much now that Haley is gone. He is skipping school, at least until his PlayStation broke. And when he does come back to school he brings alcohol and calls the teacher a slut. Although I don't blame him she was extremely under-dressed for a teacher.

Erica keeps important election information from Brooke to be sure she loses. She needs a peer advocate to stand up and talk on her behalf for the election. And even though she said they couldn't be friends anymore after he told her he through the brick through her car window, Mouth stands up for Brooke and delivers a very moving speech. And in the end Brooke becomes the new student council president!!!

Jake and Peyton also become closer. Karen go through the legal system to try and get Lucas back after he moves in with Dan.moreless

  • Season 2, Episode 14.

    9.5
As his marriage continues to crumble, Nathan goes into a emotional crisis and reverts to his past bad behavior. Karen continues to struggle with Lucas' decision to move in with Dan and wonders what hold Dan has over their son. Meanwhile, Peyton and Jake's relationship grows deeper. Nathan punched Dan! Ah, finally! I loved that scene so much! I couldn't believe he actually did that! The scene with Karen and Nathan was cute. I can't believe Lucas chose to live with Dan instead of Karen. Karen did so much for him! Excellent quality, as always, and as can be expected from OTH.moreless
  • Grrrrreat...

    9.5
As his marriage with Haley continues to go wrong, Nathan goes into an emotional crisis and becomes the "bad" Nathan of the past. Karen continues to struggle and try to figure out what would cause Lucas to move in with Dan. Peyton and Jake's relationship gets greater. This episode is named after a song by Brand New. It's true: Anybody can be president! Thakns to Mouth, Brooke wins the election. Meanwhile, Nathan's turning into a loser. With Haley gone, he slides downhill...and blames Lucas for his unhappiness. What can I say about this episode? Another great episode. I love One Tree Hill, the writers have done so well, on making it an awesome show. I can't wait to watch more One Tree Hill, bring it on.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Instead of the typical "Previously on One Tree Hill" from Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush says: "Okay, here is what you need to know". However, this recap includes a scene that never aired in the previous episode: Brooke telling Lucas how Felix and his family went on a cruise in the middle of the week, leaving her to fend for herself in her school election for president. In the previous episode, Felix was very much a part of her campaign.

    • There is a mistake in the scene with Jake and Peyton. As she is talking about sleeping in separate bedrooms, there is a blinking red light on the blinds that looks very much like a camera.

    • When Nathan and Karen are at the basketball court, in one shot you can see Nathan's lips keep moving even after he had finished speaking.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Bevin: Brooke, the cheer-leading squad needs you so much more than America does!
Brooke: Bevin, you realize I'm not running for President of the United States, right?

    • (Nathan answers the door and sees Dan, Deb, & Lucas)
Nathan: Look who it is: the Scott family.
Dan: Sorry, I thought my son lived here. Kinda looks like you, only less pathetic.

    • Lucas: (Turns up at Nathan's doorstep) Dude, you look like ass.
      Nathan: You should smell me.
Lucas: You know, I haven't seen you around school lately. You mind if I come in?
Nathan: Actually, umm, now's not really a good time.
Lucas: You know man, I'm really missing Haley. She didn't even bother to call me. It must be harder for you.
Nathan: Yeah. It's 12 weeks, I'll be fine. We'll work it out when she gets back.
      Lucas: I'm just concerned, man.
Nathan: Yeah, well don't be. Thanks.

    • Brooke: And then Haley changed Nathan, for the better. But I think she really misses that challenge.
Peyton: You really think she changed Nathan?
Brooke: Yeah. I mean, before Haley, Nathan was like the bad boy of Tree Hill. And now he's just pod Nathan.

    • Ms. Hand: Okay, please tell me you are not drinking beer in my class.
      Nathan: Technically, it's malt liquor...
      Ms. Hand: Nathan!
Nathan: It's okay, I brought enough to share.
Ms. Hand: Come with me, please.
Nathan: That's a nice skirt, Ms. Hand. You know, if more teachers dressed like sluts, attendance in this place would skyrocket.

    • Lucas: (voiceover) Octavio Paz once wrote: Solitude is the profoundest fact of the human condition. Man is the only being who knows he is alone.

    • Mouth I'll speak for her. We just heard Principal Turner read a list of Erica's accomplishments. I could try to do that for Brooke, but it would be kind of a short speech... As you know, Brooke's probably one of the most popular people in school. Something I'm definitely not... and yet, she's my friend. She never cared what clique I was part of, the kinds of clothes I wore or the fact that I have to ride the bus. She looked past that stuff. And when you think about it, isn't that what we want in our President? Someone who can see past the superficial differences and bring us together? This year, Brooke's had her share of ups and downs... just like all of us. But most of you never saw it, cause even when life got hard, Brooke never let it in. She was just Brooke; tough, smart, one of a kind... And I don't know about you but those are things that I look for in a leader. Brooke Davis is my friend. But that's not why I'm voting for her. I'm voting for her because of her heart and her spirit and because she's the best person for the job.
