Woah. What a way to end a season. The Leavers Dance concluded series two in a dramatic and satisfying way.

Lucas kissed Brooke and confessed that he loved her. This was sad and emotional cos Brooke had to leave. But I'm glad it happened and is great set up for season three. Peyton met a woman called Ellie who eventually reveals that she's her birth mother. I do like Ellie as a character so I like this. And what they really started this IM stalking thing early, didn't they? Derek is already stalking Peyton and won't reveal himself until season 4. Well done, writers!

Karen leaves to see Andy but he's missing? Odd...Nathan decides to go to High Flyers and then Haley arrives at his doorstep. YES. I want these two back together. And then Dan is poisoned and left for dead in a fire. They were very clever in setting up who it could be here. Deb. Lucas. Karen. Andy. Nathan. Woah.

Season two was so much better without those annoying new characters. Bring on season 3!

Okay, since this episode and the next aired back to back and were put together on the DVD I'm going to write one review for the whole thing and post it on both.

The kids are all working on an English final about tragedy. About whether the George Bernard Shaw quote "There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your hearts desire, the other is to gain it," is true or not and their interpretation of what it means. It's a perfect topic for the kids in Tree Hill as they've each had to deal with some form of loss and tragedy over the past year.

Peyton has gotten Jimmy Eat World to play at Tric. Jake gets out of jail after they find out Nicki lied in court, but it's too late because Nicki found Jenny and has taken off with her. So Jake leaves to go after her. I feel so bad for Peyton She finally got Jake back and now he is leaving again. And then on top it all she has this woman coming in and saying she is her mother which is creepy since her mom has been dead for years. She also has someone with a weird screen name sending her messages.

Andy has to go to Australia and asks Karen to come with him. I was really glad that she did. They are great together, but I just wish Dan would stay out of it all and leave them alone, especially Lucas and Nathan. What kind of father screws around with his sons emotions and in Lucas' case his health like that. How dare he blame Nathan for Deb's addiction and "test" Lucas like that if that's really what it was. I still don't think it was a real college fund. I just can't see him ever paying for Lucas to go to college.

I loved that Lucas and Brooke went to New York to see Haley. Lucas is such a good friend and a good brother. He just wants his friend back and wants to see his brother happy again. I also loved how he was with Chris. And when Brooke said she couldn't breathe because there was no room with Chris' ego!! Nathan decides to go to High Flyers and I'm glad. He deserves it. Haley comes home!!! I just wish Nathan would have been more accepting of her return.

Deb comes home and wants her and Nathan to be a family again and wants them to get away from Dan. They almost have a way with the scam Dan has been running until Dan announces that the business is in Deb's name so instead of bringing down Dan it would bring down Deb.

Nathan finds out Lucas continued to go after Dan after he asked him not to and that he went to go see Haley behind his back and decides they are no longer friends or brothers. When the season starts they are teammates and nothing else. This seems a bit far to me. Haley is Lucas' best friend and sister-in-law. He didn't have to tell Nathan he went to visit her. They were friends long before Nathan ever went out with her.

I am still a full on Leyton fan, but I did love when Lucas told Brooke how he felt. They are cute together, but I'm not a big fan of them as a couple.

And once again we end the series with a cliffhanger about Dan. This time instead of a heart attack he is in the middle of a fire. And once again I hoped he would die and it sucks he didn't. And addition to whether Dan lives or dies we are also left with the cliffhanger of how or who started the fire.

  • For me, this episode sums up why Brucas should and will be endgame.

    10
I absolutely ADORE this episode. It's fantastically well written, pivotal, and revealing. And my favorite couple is finally sharing a defining moment after so long.

Nathan decides to go to High Flyers for the summer, and Deb lets him know of her plans for her and Nathan to get away from Dan for good. Peyton is missing Jake like crazy and Brooke is there to comfort her. Nathan and Lucas clash over Lucas' trip to see Haley, and Nathan vows to never be friends with Lucas again. Peyton meets Ellie, who claims to be writing an article and needing Peyton's help - but Peyton gets a shock when she later insists she is actually her mother. Brooke is still reeling from the shock of finding Peyton's stuff in Lucas' room. Lucas has a sexy dream about Brooke, who assumes he had one about Peyton. Dan has various clashes with people - Whitey, Andy, Deb, Karen, Lucas; all of whom share a mutual hatred for him and he insists he feels the same way. Haley leaves the tour and turns up on Nathan's doorstep. Lucas says goodbye to Brooke as she leaves for the summer, but not before revealing his true feelings for her. Dan's dealership is set on fire by a mystery person, and Dan is there as it happens.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The Brooke/Lucas 'I wanna be with you' scene is my all-time favorite scene of the show so far, as the song 'Wires' by Athlete plays, the lyrics "I see it in your eyes" coinciding with Lucas kissing Brooke and them looking meaningfully into each others eyes. Chad impresses me as (playing Lucas) he tells Brooke how he really feels about her and vows to never want to be apart from her again. And thrilling cliffhanger scene in the end montage. It's just an excellent, classic OTH episode.moreless
  • this is a class one tree hill epp

    10
this epp and the first part has the best voice over and the best bit is that its by everyone has a say

    these are my fav

Brooke: And once you lose yourself, you have two choices. Find the person you used to be or lose that person completely.

Nathan: And losing your way on a journey is unfortunate but losing your reason for the journey, is a fade more cruel

my fav bit of this epp has to be the ending where lucas tells brooke how he feels befor she leaves for the summer. if your a die hard brucas fan like i'm than watching this kills you. i wish that they would of have more like lucas gose to the airport and looks for her something that leaves it less sad than what they did.

pus when haley come back and tell nathan thats she wants to come home. i think that everone was happy but still mad i love this eppmoreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In the picture of the two hands wearing wedding bands and the phrase "sometimes they come back", the wedding bands are not colored in, but when Peyton first gave it to Nathan they were yellow/gold.

    • When Nathan is at the river court, Deb comes towards him. Right before it cuts to Deb, you can see Mouth walking towards Nathan, but in the next shot Mouth is gone.

    • When Nathan hands Peyton the frame, with a picture of them in the beginning of the school year, he picks up the frame with his left hand and changes to his right hand to hand it to Peyton. But in the next shot he hands the picture to Peyton with his left hand.

  • QUOTES (14)

    • Whitey: You're playing with fire Danny, and you're about to get burned!
Dan: Bring it on, old man.

    • Lucas: I wanna be with you, Brooke.
      Brooke: What?
      Lucas: I'm sorry. I know we're friends. It's just how I feel.
      Brooke: What about Peyton's stuff?
Lucas: I keep that stuff as a reminder of how badly I screwed up things. With you. To remind myself, if I ever get a second chance, I'd never let you go again.

    • Peyton: You don't know anybody who has the IM name WATCHMEWATCHU, do you?
      Brooke: Mmm…sounds pervy. Sadly, no.

    • Brooke: And once you lose yourself, you have two choices. Find the person you used to be or lose that person completely.

    • Nathan: And losing your way on a journey is unfortunate, but losing your reason for the journey is a fate more cruel.

    • Lucas: Tennessee Williams once wrote: "We all live in a house of fire. No fire department to call. No way out. Just the upstairs window to look out of while the fire burns down the house with us trapped, locked in it."

    • Elizabeth: My name is Elizabeth.
Peyton: Great! So even your name is a lie.
Elizabeth: Like your middle name, Elizabeth. That's how you got your middle name.
      Peyton: Who are you?
      Elizabeth: I'm your mother.

    • Lucas: Look, are we ever gonna talk about Peyton? And the stuff you found?
Brooke: It's not a big deal. Actually, I was kinda relieved.
      Lucas: Relieved?
Brooke: I thought you might be into me. And that would've ruined everything because we've become friends. And that's exactly what I needed. And it's exactly what I want.
Lucas: But you seemed upset that I held onto all that stuff. You still do.
Brooke: Finding that stuff was kind of like evidence. Reminded me of what happened and how it happened. And I guess my heart just wasn't ready for that.

    • Peyton: Brooke, I'm sorry. I know you had feelings for Lucas.
Brooke: Phantom feelings. Like, when you lose a leg and try to scratch it. Lucas was my gangrene infected amputated limb.

    • Brooke: LUCAS! Do not make me join you!
Lucas: Uh, a little privacy here.
Brooke: No, you've been in the shower forever! By the time I even get in the water it's gonna be...(Checks water) cold! Are you taking a cold shower?!
      Lucas: No, the hot water-
Brooke: Gross! You are! You know what? Next wet dream, tell Peyton I said 'Hi'. Ew!

    • Brooke: (walks in on Nathan and Peyton involved in a tickle-fight) Well, well. First Lucas, then Jake and now Nathan... I guess "slutty" is in season.
Peyton: And why is Bitch being a Brooke?
Brooke: Because! I'm leaving tomorrow for the summer, possibly forever, and my best friend is off giving interviews and having psuedo-innocent foreplay with kind-of married guys!

    • Nathan: This is us at the beginning of the year. You were never happier.
      Peyton: You were never hornier.

    • Peyton: As a matter of fact, it's half-past the crazy bitch so leave me alone!

    • Peyton: Are you not helping me move you because it brings back bad memories or because you're a lazy pile of crap?
