James van der Beek, who starred as the movie director in this episode, also played the title role in Dawson's Creek, as Dawson Leery, whose directorial ambitions finally come to fruition in the last season. Interestingly, that show was shot in Wilmington N.C., the same place that One Tree Hill currently films.
When Julian pours sugar on his table, the position of the sugar changes when the shot goes from Julian to Lucas and back.
Dixon: (to Lucas about his screenplay) If there's one thing that I know it's that audiences get crazy over who ends up together.
Owen: You know, I haven't had a drink in over eight years. Tonight that's going to change.
Millicent: I haven't had sex in over 22 years. And tonight that's going to change.
Julian: Sorry. Sam says hi!
Brooke: Sam? My Sam? And why does my Sam have your phone number?
Julian: She has an interest in the film industry.
Brooke: She is fifteen. You pervert.
Julian: Okay. Just wrap your head around it. Okay? You and the movie. Not me and Sam. She's only fifteen, you know. You pervert.
Jamie (Narrating): A man of words and not of deeds is like a garden full of weeds. And when the weeds begin to grow, it's like a garden full of snow. And when the snow begins to fall, it's like a bird upon the wall. And when the bird away does fly, it's like an eagle in the sky. And when the sky begins to roar, it's like a lion at the door. And when the door begins to crack, it's like a stick across your back. And when your back begins to smart, it's like a penknife in your heart. And when your heart begins to bleed, you're dead, and dead, and dead indeed.
Nathan (Narrating his basketball try-out): Numbers are funny. They can measure you, time you, and analyze you all they want, but they all know what really matters is how you play the game. He thinks I've lost a step because of my accident, so he's gonna play me tight. I haven't. Now he'll back off because he doesn't want to get beat off the dribble... just a half step. That's a mistake. You ever hear the expression you can't measure heart? Well the truth is they can't measure any of it: heart... want... need. They think I can't play point guard. But Q knew I could. You can't measure a dream.
Nathan: (Quentin is helping Nathan recover athletically) Why are you doing this for me, Q?
Quentin: This ain't just your dream, man.
Julian: A little old man and I fell out; I'll tell you what it was all about. He had money, and I had none. And that's the way the noise begun.
Combine Player: Whose shoes are those?
Nathan: Mine.
Combine Player: I know that. I mean, whose else are they? Ray Allen? KG?
Nathan: I heard what you said, and they're mine.
Jack: A lot of girls would do it with me.
Sam: Yeah, and those girls are called prostitutes.
Brooke: (On Sam's friend Jack Daniels spending the night unannounced) You expect me to believe that someone named after the white trash rock band drink of choice stayed in your room for the night and nothing happened?
Although credited, Barbara Alyn Woods (Deb) does not appear in this episode.
