Orange Bowl

Show Summary

The Discover Orange Bowl is one of the oldest college football bowl games in existence having been played annually since 1935. It is a member of the prestigious Bowl Championship Series collection of bowl games along with the Rose, Fiesta and Sugar Bowls. Played in Miami, Florida, the Discover Orange Bowl is the guaranteed destination of the ACC champion unless they are playing in the national championship game. Historically, the Orange Bowl was known for hosting the Big Eight champions until the birth of the BCS. Oklahoma (18) and Nebraska (17) are the overall leaders in appearances in the Orange Bowl game as a result. In 1989, FedEx become the official sponsor of the Orange Bowl. However, the 2011 game was the first Discover Orange Bowl as Discover Card has become the new sponsor. Stanford University defeated Virginia Tech University in that game. Be sure to catch the next exciting chapter in the history of the Discover Orange Bowl in January 2012!
