Netflix (Returning June 17, 2016)

Just one day after the launch of House of Cards' second season—have you watched the shocking premiere yet?—Netflix has announced a debut date for round two of its excellent prison-set dramedy Orange Is the New Black. Piper, Taystee, Red, Crazy Eyes Suzanne, Daya, and the rest of the Litchfield gang will have their bunks read for inspection on Friday, June 6. Season 2 will run for 13 episodes, and in typical Netflix style, all of them will be released at once.

The online streaming service announced the news this morning by tweeting out the short teaser embedded above. Or rather, that's how it informed the general non-House of Cards-binging public. The company said in a press release that "early fans who finished the last episode from Season 2 of the Netflix original series House of Cards were treated to a surprise date announcement at the end of the episode during post play."

But hey, let's talk about that teaser for second! It's not much—mostly a bunch of mean and/or suspicious looks from Pornstache, Red, Gloria, Nicky, Taystee, Bennett, Daya, Big Boo, Lorna, Crazy Eyes/Suzanne, Piper, and a couple folks I didn't recognize (are they new characters, or am I just in need of a re-watch?). But Pennsatucky and her teeth, if she even still has them, are nowhere to be seen. What do you suspect happened to her and Piper after the closing events of the Season 1 finale?

What do I thnk? I think Piper got up and walked away. Washed her hands and let the meth head bleed in the snow.
Healey couldn't say anything because then he would have gotten his ass in a sling for failing to do anything. So....he can't say he saw the fight. He was betting that Piper would get killed. He lost that bet.

Pennsyltucky lived. Then she got bright shiny new teeth because Piper knocked out her crazy assed ones. That's my story anyway.

That is exactly what a teaser, shit even a trailer, should be like. It showed diddely but boy am I excited! Even a gimpse of all the characters is enough. That's how great the show is!

Really not much to watch, truth be told. Those could have been shots from season one (they aren't, of course). Anyway, time will fly. TWD will finish its season, as will other great shows, then we'll be blessed with this one and a few others.

Can I can plan my season one re-watch accordingly. And I still don't know why anyone would consider the series to be a comedy, I mean did you see this trailer? It's a drama with comedic elements, no doubt about it.

If its like most prisons, she'll probably just be charged without any evidence and presumed guilty until months later when it can be fully verified that she did or didn't have anything to do with it anyway, despite no supervision around and a violent offender in possession of a weapon. Obviously, we all know she actually did it, but hey, prisons work funny like that. Profits, and all that....
