  • Topped Nikita. . . oh no you didn't!

I never thought someone could top Nikita shooting her way out the restaurant she was trapped in, in 1997's La Femme Nikita; Orphan Black did it! Excellent! Bravo! The twisted, complex, funny, terrorizing story continues to entertain and delve deeper into the human psyche; To the very core of what makes us human. The clones have more soul than many of the non-clones. I would love to see Peta Wilson make an appearance as a top level secret government military strategist character (loosely based on her Nikita persona) . That would be so cool, and she is the one person who could pull this off. I know she could go toe to toe with sarah both as a character and an actor.moreless
  • Welcome back Orphan black!

A great return for the new season.
  • Cracking start to season 2!

    9.0
Keeping this review short and sweet, the season 2 premiere expertly carries over the strongest components of season 1's DNA (namely, Felix's ass), with a new bad guy lurking in the wings (creepy, religious guy), an old bad guy bleeding out (HELENA! Such a tattle- tale, that one - my sister shot me), and all of the goodness fans of last year can expect.

My favourite moment, among many during this episode, was when we are reminded just how complex of an actor Tatiana really is, when she portrays Sarah-as-Cosima. We got just enough of Sarah coming through, as she did her best geeky impression of how Cosima acts, and it always floors me when I have to remind myself that this is all coming from the same woman!

Slickly edited, with some very nice camera flourishes, especially in the beginning of the episode, the show has never looked so good and, thankfully, the quality hasn't dipped in the slightest with this Sophomore outing.moreless

Tatiana Maslany is just incredible. Love me some Felix, and that Romon needs his own show..

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Title: The episode title is from a quote in Part III The Phenomena of the Universe; or a Natural and Experimental History for the Foundation of Philosophy of Francis Bacon's "Plan Of The Work", published in 1620. His Plan of Work was printed as a prefix to his New Method. The full quote is "Next, with regard to the mass composition of it: I mean it to be a history not only of nature free and at large (when she is left to her own course and does her work her own way),—such as that of the heavenly bodies, meteors, earth and sea, minerals, plants, animals,—but much more of nature under constraint and vexed; that is to say, when by art and the hand of man she is forced out of her natural state, and squeezed and moulded."

  • QUOTES (2)

    • (Sarah walks into Rachel's office while Rachel's back is turned)
      Rachel: Good, you made it.
      Sarah: I want my daughter.
Rachel: Of course, and we want you to be together, but my people found your foster mother's house overturned. They were gone when we got there.
      Sarah: You're lying.
Rachel: I lied to get you here, but we don't have them.
Sarah: (slightly raising her gun) Kira's here and I want to see her now.
Rachel: You're not going to shoot me, Sarah.
(Sarah shoots a plant holder close to Rachel's head; Rachel backs away in fear as Sarah aims the gun at her)
Sarah: If you don't have her, you're dead!
Rachel: There are other forces vying for fate, Sarah. We'll get Kira back, together.
(Sarah slaps Rachel across her face and Rachel falls to the ground; Sarah gets on top of her and holds the gun to Rachel's cheek)
Rachel: Nobody lays hands on me.
      Sarah: You don't own us.

    • (after Ramon has just delivered a bouquet of flowers with a gun inside from Alison)
Felix: Alison, you know some very strange people.
Alison: (on computer Skype) Oh, they look nice. Sorry I couldn't bring them in person. I have scads of costumes to alter.
Sarah: And thanks for the card too.
Alison: Are you making fun of me? I made that!
Sarah: No, no, no, no. It's good to see you, Alison.
      Felix: We love you, Alison.
Alison: Well, normally I'd say "don't do anything rash", but rash seems to be a genetic trait, so...go get Kira.
