    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • For a second episode in a row, Dan considers leaving, but this time he does "push the button" and is taken out by S&R helicopter.

    • QUOTES (5)

      • Dan: I miss my family. You know, it's so easy to think to yourself, 'You know, I could just go home.' But at the same time, I got myself into this for a reason- to really understand and appreciate what family means, and what it's all about.

      • Jake: (as he collects all his empty snares) Alaska 97, Jacob 0.

      • Jake: (as he sees a beaver near the snare he left 2 days ago) Get into the snare, bastard! He's just laughin' it up. He's probably going to smack his tail in a little bit, to rub it in. Seems like they're pretty clever animals. I think I might stick to hunting things with a gun.

      • Carolyn: (upon seeing that their next shelter is a crashed bush plane) Somebody shoot me now.
Kimberly: Maybe the transmitter still works, so we can get out of here!

      • Dan: (just before he pushes the button to leave) You guys all know, the main reason I came on this journey was to find out what family was like. Within 14 days you guys helped me realize that... I'm getting all emotional, and, uh, I appreciate it.

    • NOTES (2)

      • It turns out that Dan was very wise to leave the group instead of trying to go on- he had lost 45 lbs in only 13 days, and lack of food and severe dehydration had caused his kidneys to start to fail.

      • Dan's "rescue" is the first one that the remaining volunteers have witnessed. Penny Jo, Fredric and Joe were all picked up after the rest of the group had continued on their journey. Jake says in his blog on the episode that this made losing him all the harder to bear.
