Who agrees with me that the ending was a bit too rushed and way too confusing?

I really didn't get it the first 2 times and on the thrid time when i understood it it kinda lost it's intrest factor.

The reason why it sucked because it really didn't end the series...and Gene's haircut was crap.

The show didn't get renewed, so the last episode wasn't a complete ending to the story. Gene's hair was short because he had been in prison, I think.

The problem I had was that there were too many questions left unanswered, such as:

    1. Whatever happened to the MacDougalls?

    2. Whatever happened to the romance between Gene and Melfina?

    3. What will become of the Outlaw Star and its crew?

    4. Will Gene ever get his debts payed off?

    I can go on forever.

It was a set up for a second season that never happened.

Actually, it was a set up to the movie that was released in private adult theaters in Japan (The show was intentionally for adults) but the film had never been released to U.S. due to some telemarketing and production problems with the series. (That and Sunrise and Sotstu had a big fight over season 2...)

I loved the part where Aisha transformed and fought that straight-jacket pirate, the fight was too short but the metamorphosis was really really cool.

It seemed very anime-like to me. The wandering into the Leyline, the final confrontation, the boss transformation, the alternate reality, throw in some love, big explosions. And an epilogue which would have run the credits through.

Whoever created Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy X must have watched a lot of Outlaw Star

There was going to be a continuation to the series, but I don't know why it never got done. I do know that the manga continues it is called Outlaw Star: The Retaliation. Of what I've read about it Gene and Jim split up and it mainly focuses on Jim, but that's just what I have read and it my not be accurate. They had even advertised the continuation of the series. Probably like most things funding was lost.

Whatever the reason its safe to say a second season would do the show's legacy some good.

I definitely don't think that the ending sucked, but I must agree that it was confusing, and that it wouldn't hurt to have a 2nd season to tie up all of the loose ends from the end of the 1st season.

I thought it was a fitting ending. It left a lot for the imagination though.
