With the victim's father present in court, the killer is sentenced to 25 years in prison. Later, the father finds the murderer in a bar and, in a fit of rage, grabs a police officer's gun and kills him, then flees back to Los Angeles. To avoid a diplomatic crisis, Garza must now return the father to Mexico to stand trial for murder.moreless

      When a gang shooting leaves Kelvin Jones dead at the Cyrus Garza School in Hastings, Alabama, Garza files a lawsuit against the school for creating an atmosphere that led to the child's death. When the lawsuit is dismissed, Garza files a class action suit against the entire district claiming that the school system's segregation is a violation of the famous Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling. Meanwhile, Eddie has to decide if he can trust Lucinda when she becomes the prime suspect in Buzzcut's murder and in the process discovers a dark secret from her past.moreless

Garza must rely on his team including his best friend since childhood Al Druzinsky, himself a brilliant attorney, although a liberal and defense one; loyal law clerk Mereta Stockman; unorthodox private investigator Lucinda Pearl; and ambitious Yale graduate and new clerk, conservative Eddie Franks. Hints of dangerous enemies made by turning maverick against the system are for now only in his periphery, but Garza charges ahead with his team behind him and his sights set on justice.moreless
