    Wake up!

Stop blaming outsourcing to india for the loss of jobs if that it what makes you hate the show. These people have nothing to do with it. they need food to and will take whatever comes their ways like we do. Blame your own bosses who are making millions on your back instead. They are the ones you should be upset about, not some poor guy in delhi.

About the show, i like it. some say it is dumb....you wanna see dumb?! honestly?!! you are asking me? does "jackass" ring a bell?

A monkey would not even find jackass funny and the guys doign this stuff right now would have fallen down the evolutionnary tree so fast in those times that this kind of behavior by humans would not exist.

Outsourced is about the differences between people. How is it that hard to get?! because we are different we run into funny situation because we do not connect on the same wavelenght and that is what makes the show funny.

The show will not be funny when the call center staff start to "get" the american way...that is the danger that writers will have to avoid...making that staff american will be the downfall of the show....

In a tv world populated by dumb tv reality shows this is a breath of fresh air. I know that exploring and making fun of different cultures can be offensive to some people.

I say to those people to stay in their bubble and live your life and let the rest of this planet go forward and evolve and leave you behind....

The only thing i do not like about the show so far is that it is too short and over fast and i cant get enough of it. Rarely in the week looking at tv do i have a good laugh...my good laugh comes when i watch outsourced...

    peace

    Too long, did not read.

I'm joking. I don't care about outsourcing, I'm not from USA...I just find the show a little racist. That's all. Watched the pilot a couple of days ago and I couldn't finish it.

Basing a show in the differences between races and making racist jokes every episode is not OK...

Racist jokes aside, the show isn't funny. Not my kind of humor.

i dont disagree with your opinion but if you look around there is a lot of tv and movie going around that are racist in nature or mocking a specific group of people.

look at the office and their skit with the gaydar, isnt that kind of racist and targeting a group.....

i have seen way worse than outsourced on that side of things. i find it funny and entertaining and i hope it continues to go on for some time....

I don't find the show racist per se, but feel that show could be perceived that way based on it's lack of episode to episode storytelling. You could literally, with the exclusion of the first two episodes, start this show anywhere in the season and it wouldn't make a difference.

I want to believe that the show attempts to blend culturaldifferences with a message tolerance through direct interaction and humor. The same way that All In The Family did back in the seventies. Holding a mirror up to populace in the hopes that they're able to see a bit of themselves in the characters and the reaction they have to whatever their being subjected to and just how silly the reactions/outlooks really are.

Remember, racism is based out of ignorance, blatant or otherwise. If a silly little T.V. show, whether it be South Park, The Simpsons, All in the Family, or Outsourced, can help people laugh their way through a twelve step program of tolerance then good for it.

Like I said though, this show's writers are definitely going to have to step up their game. I like the characters, but I need them to "do" something besides being endlessly thrust into romantic triangles. The show's endings are completely lackluster and don't leave me wanting more.

I'll give it another season, before I give up on it completely though.

You need to wake up. Outsourcing is not funny! Americans have a right to hate this show. It is an attempt on the part of Corporate America to soften this travesty of the American public by making it a joke. IT IS NOT A JOKE! NBC should be ashamed for televising this show. It is an insult to the American public. All Americans should boycott NBC and the sponsors of this show, I have. You are correct that the Indian people are not to blame, but Big Business is to blame and NBC is working with them hide their betrayal of the citizens of our country.

This is a great discussion. I agree with Mark. I have always believed that anytime TV is able to hold that mirror and get society to look at things they would rather just ignore (racism, child abuse, intolerance and insensitivity, etc.) is good. There have been some great episodes on various programs that have done that. There have been some episodes of Flashpoint (Follow the Leader and Whatever It Takes come to mind) that do that,

I just wish we had more civil discourse in out culture and not all this yelling and screaming and tearing down people who don't agree with us. Don's right that Americans have a right to hate this show. They have a right to love it and anything else in between too!

I'm Canadian - just in case anyone is interested.

can't please everyone. its not as racist as some people make out to be, hey theres family guy and theres almost nothing that show won't make fun of and its doing really well. the show is supposed to be about a guy who moves to india because of work and how he tries to cope with living there as a manager of a call center, something to that affect. honestly i thought the premise of the show was a terrible idea/super joke/waste of time but after completely watching several episodes i definitely take that all back because i thoroughly enjoyed all of the episodes i could watch and well its funnier than 30 rock and parks and recreations combined. some people just have to give it a chance, but thats just my opinion.

I understand about the current unemployment woes of Americans. I just spent the last 18 month without steady work and had to spend a portion of that time on unemployment, so I understand that there is an anger/rage when you have to look in the mirror and see how far we've fallen. Having said that though, I also understand the importance of standing up and looking in that mirror to find find any personal flaws that I might have to make myself the best "commodity" that I can be.

There is a danger in dwelling on the nuances of personal loss though. Taking the initial anger/"what am I going to do" emotions from having just been laid off can cripple a person and make them into something they're truly not (Historically it's happened and I've watched it happen to friends first hand). The people taking the jobs are never the culprits here as they simply want anopportunityto better their life and the life of their family. Do I think it's unfair that jobs started in any country are outsourced to any other by government intervention (raised business taxes, raised tariffs, etc), but that's something that we should personally take into consideration when we voice our concerns to ourrepresentatives.

Having blabbed on WAY too long in regards to the underlying theme of Outsourced (and I do believe it's an underlying theme) I believe that the main message, as I've stated above, is individual tolerance through situational interactions. Giving us a yokel from Kansas City(I'm also a KC boy, Gates BBQ is way better than AB's) that reacts hastily to situations involving a culture that's foreign to him hits pretty close to home for the majority of Americans. Allowing him to work through his ignorance of the situation with humor helps to make the acceptance of the message more palatable. As amulatto I understand the importance of humor in swaying a persons mindset. If you can make them laugh it's harder for them to hate you.

    Again, it's my personal opinion.

You are right however, American's have the right to hate this show, but why waste the energy for reasons that the show isn't even focusing on.

    Just sayin'.

Uh ok, I'm not sure you're aware of this but Outsourced is a TV SHOW. Aside from entertainment, it is a reflection of our society. Reflection, as in, it's not a slap in the face but rather, a revelation of the truth. Honestly, if you think this is what the world has come to then you shouldn't be spending your time watching TV and arguing in Forums over it! Real life is tough, we all know that. But getting heated over a TV show? Not very smart. Also, basing your arguments on the premise or "idea" of the show makes your judgement unfair and your character, narrow-minded.

Plus, I'm annoyed at the way you view other people and other cultures. I'm not American and I understand the distress you feel for your people but didn't you stop to think that people in India are people as well? If your people grow hungry despite being in a first-world country, can you IMAGINE how it's like for those who live in third-world countries? Your heart is seemingly misplaced, sir! Your intended "patriotism" slapped you in the face as you've come off as a selfish American and thus a very bad representative of your nation. So take your own advice and "Educate yourself about what is going on" because you're obviously unaware of the fact that not everybody consumes their time watching Television nor do they waste it ranting in TV BOARDS about things that don't pertain to TV.Yell

    @Don518...whatever!

Ha! If its like it.....then "EVERYBODY" (Read WORLD) should hate America

But I dun say that, bcos I understand diffrent part of this world behave, talk, work, express and act differently(Nobody hates america, the Words were just to explain this madman )!!!

India gets all the work outsourced bcos they do it for less than half the price you would nod your heads to!

You want A car, A House a daily meal of 4 Hamburgers,2Coke, 3 Coffee (each 500ml), 2 Pack of Fingerchips, Pork Salad and all blah blah things... While an Indian would do it and after getting his payment will thankyou and won't bother you again! I am not saying that ur needs and wants are unlimited and Americans eat like a pig, but what I am saying is Indians are used to be happy in whatever they get, So....my friend if you were a businessman U would do the same with your work

I don't see how this show is racist at all, like other sitcom characters they're all a bit charicatured but that's just the genre. Making fun of cultural differences either way isn't racism at all, it's just funny and hopefully can lead to some reflection. As for outsourcing itself, it's just a natural effect of market liberalism and capitalism, now what's more American than that?! Get a little more socialism and solidarity into the US instead and you might get some more jobs. We got that here in Norway and we need people for all our jobs, not the other way around. Oversimplifications aside, Outsourced is a very funny and positive show in my opinion, I love it! Btw nrthms, the movie you mention isn't called Idiotocracy, but Idiocracy.
