This series from Victor Fresco (Andy Richter Controls the Universe) centers on several teen characters who work and hang out at the mall food court. There is 18-year-old, optimistic-but-not-ambitious Laz (Zachary Knighton, The Prince and Me); his 16-year-old angst-ridden and angry stepsister, Molly (Saige Thompson, 10-8: Officers on Duty); Laz's best friend Fred (Charlie Finn, Super Troopers); and Laz's new girlfriend Lily (Rachelle Lefevre, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow). Home base for Laz and Molly is a blended family formed by the marriage of Laz's dad, Rick (Matthew Glave, The Wedding Singer), and Molly's mom, Michelle (Amy Yasbeck, The Mask). Rick and Molly love all of their children, but they are particularly obsessed with the only product of their union together: the sweet, perfect and wise 8-year-old Gus (Frankie Ryan Manriquez). Laz and Fred both 18, have been friends forever. Just out of high school, and unsure what they want to do with their lives, they take jobs at a mall food court, at the lame "Yippee, Hot Dogs" run by the always yelling Mr.Hut (Maz Jobrani). There, Laz meets the girl of his dreams, the lovely and strong-willed Lily. Optimistic but not ambitious, Laz cuts a deal with his well-meaning but superficial dad Rick and equally superficial stepmom Michelle which allows Laz to continue living rent-free at home. All Laz has to do is keep an eye on his stepsister (Michelle's daughter), the angry, angst-ridden, 16-year-old Molly. Michelle and Rick hope that Laz will help socialize Molly and get her on the right track with the boy she likes - the sweet and very honest Jasper. Rounding out the family is the perfect and wise 8-year-old Gus, the only product of Rick and Michelle's union and the object of their obsession. At the whim of writer/executive producer Victor Fresco, these people are now getting a taste of LIFE ON A STICK. LIFE ON A STICK is created, written and executive-produced by Victor Fresco and co-executive-produced by Maggie Bandur, Michael Ross, Michael Teverbaugh and Miriam Trogdon. The Geena Davis Show

    The Geena Davis Show

    Follow
    ABC (ended 2001)
When Teddie Cochran (Geena Davis) moved to her fiancee's house, she didn't expect to suddenly become a mother. Little by little, Teddie has to adjust from a single, fast paced woman into a mother and wife. She tries to win the kids heart so she can have a happy family and live peacefully with the man she loves. At work, things aren't any easier with her crazy co-workers, Alan and Judy. But Teddie isn't all alone on this. She knows she can always count on her best friend, the drunk Hillary, and the warm-hearted nanny, Gladys. The Geena Davis Show was one of the shows built around a 'big' Hollywood name, like many others that also premiered on the 2000-2001 season, a move from the networks to attract viewers with familiar faces. Unfortunately, none of the shows ("Normal, Ohio", led by "Roseanne" star John Goodman; the troubled NBC sitcom The Michael Richards Show, the first show from a "Seinfeld" alumn; and CBS's much anticipated Bette Midler sitcom "Bette" lasted long, despite being the season's biggest bets. All eventually went in hiatus or didn't even get a full season order. Turns out having a famous lead doesn't automatically give a show high ratings. The Geena Davis Show premiered in October, 2000 on ABC. It made a strong debut following "Dharma & Greg," even after all the recasting, renaming and retooling the show went through to fit ABC's executives demands (the original version looked like a Sex and the City rip-off - which is understandable, considering that Terri Minsky used to write for the that show). Academy Award winning actress Geena Davis was the biggest attraction of the show, making to the cover of TV Guide's special fall 2000 edition, which also featured John Goodman, Bette Midler and Michael Richards. Despite its strong debut, ratings dropped as the weeks went by and by March it was replaced by the new Joan Cusak comedy, "What About Joan". ABC eventually brought Geena back to air the remaining episodes, but the show wasn't renewed for a second season. Still, The Geena Davis Show managed to be nominated for Best New TV Comedy Series for the People's Choice Award and Geena Davis also got a nomination herself. Spider-Woman

    Spider-Woman

    Follow
    ABC (ended 1980)
This animated series was produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, with the character of Spider-Woman being specifically created in order for Marvel Comics to have a female counterpart to Spider-Man before any other comics company thought of the idea. She first appeared in the comic Marvel Spotlight #32 in February 1977 and was originally intended to actually be a genetically altered spider, having been evolved into human form, named Arachne. This story was changed for her next appearance in Spider-Woman #1 in April 1978, where it was said that spider powers were granted to Jessica Drew by the character of the High Evolutionary (later a regular character in the Spider-Man Unlimited TV show). For the TV show, only Spider-Woman's real name and powers were kept intact from the comicbook. Everything else about the show's setup was created specifically for the television series. Her origin for the TV show was that as a child she was bitten by a poisonous spider. Her father, Dr. Alexander Drew saved her life by using an untested spider serum that inadvertently gave her spider powers. And now, with Jessica as the head of Justice Magazine, she battles evil as Spider-Woman, with the help of photographer Jeff Hunt, and her nephew Billy Drew.moreless

    BBC (ended 1994)
Robin Hood wasn't the heroic, lovable bandit history led us to believe. Instead he was a self-centered, yellow-bellied chicken. The brains and courage actuality came from Maid Marian! Marian was in fact the real leader of the Merry Men, who fought to protect the pennyless people of Worksop against the deceitfully worm-like Sheriff of Nottingham and the big nasty ogre called 'King John.' With a lighthearted song and a twist of zaniness, Maid Marian and her Merry Men (for the most part at least!) saved the day. But unintentionally dropped all the credit into Robin's lap.

    The Tomorrow People (1992)

    Follow
    ITV (ended 1995)
This is the 1990s reboot of the original 1970s series, The Tomorrow People. Creator Roger Price saw these Tomorrow People as less certain about themselves, less skilled in the use of their special abilities. Everything you loved about the original series (the music, the opening titles, the Lab, TIM and those jaunty belt buckles) are gone, replaced by a cosmopolitan cast and a spacecraft. The new Tomorrow People were the Australian Adam Newman (Kristian Schmid), American Lisa Davies (Kristen Ariza), and Briton Kevin Wilson (Adam Pearce). Kevin's cousin, Marmaduke "Megabyte" Damon (Christian Tessier) is fascinated with Kevin's powers, and helps him. Lisa is replaced by Ami Jackson (Naomie Harris) from the second season. The new series was slicker and better acted than the original, but without the original gimmicks it became just another kids-with-powers show. It lasted for three seasons.moreless
