  • Who could have known that a children's show could be so enthralling and inspiring. Parallax is brilliant!

Who could have known that a children's show could be so enthralling and inspiring? That is exactly how it was the day I watched the first episode of the parallax. A kid who finds out he has a sister in another dimension, and that his mum is a guardian of all the worlds. Of course Ben and Katherine's mum, Veronica tells them to stop playing in the Parallax, but that doesn't stop the meddling. Curiosity sets in, when all their friends and enemies pop up in different forms in each of the worlds. Enter Betti and the Krelics, whose aim is to restore "order" in all of her sister, Veronica's worlds, but first she must find the young Guardians and destroy them, just as she blandished Francis from Future-world. Ben and Katherine deal with many issues including parental separation and abandonment, sibling rivalry, friendship, letting go and growing up, all which are prevalent in the lives of the show's target audience, the children of Australia, but adult viewers can learn a thing or two from this show, too about letting go, forgiveness, trust and honesty. The young actors in the show have proven quite talented with bright futures ahead of them. The Parallax on a whole is brilliant! The final episode has left room for another season. Perhaps that should be on the cards.
  • a boy discovers portals

    7.4
The concept of a 'parallax' of connected dimensions/universes by a system of portals isn't new, but such a vast concept hardly needs to be, and in Parallax we have an interesting use of it... Ben discovers a portal... after he thinks he sees his friend Francis steal something using it to escape... and soon discovers all is not well in the five universes of the main parallax district... controlled or observed from a mysterious 'reading room' which he discovers late in the series... before defeating the evil betty who plans to make everything perfect in the parallax, which is against ben and his mother's ideals... certainly an entertaining series
  • Ben and Katherine find friends and allies in other parallel universes. There are billions of worlds, but the series only concentrates on the main five. The kids explore the worlds of the Parallax.

Ben and Katherine find friends and allies in other parallel universes. There are billions of worlds, but the series only concentrates on the main five. The kids explore the worlds of the Parallax until they find a world that is a desolate ruin. It is then that they realise that there is a threat in the Parallax that is both dangerous and very close. They discover that the information they need to save their worlds may be held in the Reading Room. The problem is that the Guardians can no longer gain access to the Reading Room. When their mother disappears, Ben and Katherine embark on a quest to find both her and the missing key to the Reading Room. It is a quest that leads them to the Mother of all Welkin, lots of purple bugs called Krellicks, a rather dangerous Aunt Betti and the Lost Guardian.

  • Awesome show! Can't believe I missed it the first time around.

    9.9
    This show is most excellent.

Ben lives in the "nothing-ever-happens-here town of Werrinup on the coast of Australia. Then he discovers a portal into a parallel universe and that in that parallel universe, and right next door in space-time terms, he has an older sister, Katherine (Mum sure has some explaining to do).
It gets even more interesting when he meets a boy who is the parallel world doppelganger of his best friend Francis. Except this newFrancis is a sneak-thief extraordinaire who has come through a portal from a third parallel world.
To Ben this is all pretty cool, and a welcome change of pace to life in a small country town. But there are just a few matters that he'd like to discuss first including:-
    * Veronica, his punctual, have-you-done-your-homework, ironing-is-a-neglected-art MOTHER is really a ninja/commando/warrior trained GUARDIAN of the Parallax ?!?.
*Why do these large purple snake-headed wasp things (welkin) want to bite them?
    * he and his new-found sister are the only hope of stopping their worlds from being destroyed?!
    * the answer is in a LIBRARY?!? (Since when, Ben wonders, is a library card an offensive weapon?)
And, most importantly, is that know-it-all, pain-in-the-butt Katherine really his sister?

It was filmed in Western Australia.

It's a 26x30 mins series created by Paul Barron and Produced by Great Western Entertainment.

Hopefully they will make another season of Parallax.

Great Western Entretainment (GWE) has produced another tv series which was also created by Paul Barron, it is called Streetsmartz.
