- The West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia, is one of the most frequently investigated locations on paranormal TV shows. It's also been featured on the Ghost Hunters episode "Shadow People" and the Ghost Adventures episode "Moundsville State Penitentiary". Its reputation also drew the British paranormal TV show Most Haunted to investigate the prison during its eleventh season episode "West Virginia State Penitentiary". In 2010, the Discovery Channel's Ghost Lab visited the prison in its episode "Afterlife Sentence". The site was also used in 2011 forthe episode "West Virginia Penitentiary" in the Travel Channel show Zak Bagan's Paranormal Challenge.
