AIRED:

Tony and Mike discuss the top sports stories including: Joe Paterno being fired by the Penn State board of trustees and will not allowing him to coach the game against Nebraska or finish out the 2011 season; their thoughts on the rioting at the Penn State campus following the announcement the Joe Paterno had been fired and if there is any justification for the student body doing so; their thoughts on where Joe Paterno's legacy stands now; their thoughts on if the Penn State/Nebraska game should even take place and if it's fine for Penn State to let Mike McQueary coach during the game; their thoughts on the reports that say the NBA owners and the NBPA are on the verge of agreeing on a new CBA deal; their thoughts on Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos being kidnapped from his home in Venezuela. ESPN has been pretty unwatchable today, although it is odd that I have watched more than usual today. It has been littered with Penn State and Joe Paterno dialogue and while that is the big story in the world, enough is enough already and I want to talk sports.

Not to mention it was the weekly Ron Jaworski visit, so all things considered this was a pretty mediocre episode of PTI.

    • Mike Wilbon: Tony, can you believe these NBA talks are still droning on?
Tony Kornheiser: Nothing bores me more. [looks at Wilbon, then back at the camera] Well, almost nothing.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Happy Birthday: Kendrick Perkins!
Happy Anniversary: Ron Jaworski! In 1985 he threw an NFL record 99-yard overtime touchdown to Mike Quick that lead to the Eagles win over the Falcons.
Happy Trails: John Daly! After hitting seven balls into the drink at the Australian Open, he walked off the course.
