With a documentary film crew in tow, Leslie Knope goes about her duties in the Deputy Director of the Pawnee, Indiana Parks and Recreation department. Her enthusiasm, however, makes her believe that her importance is far beyond what everyone around her perceives.
As the cameras follow her from one bizarre community meeting to another, an issue catches Leslie's imagination and she sees it as her chance to shine -- an abandoned condo development site which has left a deep pit in a residential neighborhood. When local resident Ann Logan asked that something be done about it, Leslie has the spontaneous idea to convert it into a park. She's so excited about the idea that dives right into it (almost literally at one point) without considering the bureaucratic can of worms she had just opened.
