Leslie realizes she forgot about Jerry's last day before retirement so she and Ben spend their entire day off trying to help Jerry accomplish some of his goals. However, Jerry ends up teaching Leslie the most important lesson of all - there is more to life than work. Meanwhile, Tom panics about being the next office Jerry and after freaking out at the fertility clinic Ann and Chris spend the night together.

Leslie gets sucked into a bet to live in the Pawnee Historical House without modern technology by a citizen after she writes a bill which tries to modernize the towns obsolete charter. Chris forces a reluctant April and Ron to participate in his management training seminar which leads to a series of experiments on Jerry to determine which man has the more effective management technique. Meanwhile, Ben and Ann both try to buy the same waffle iron as a gift for Leslie.

Leslie and Ben travel to Ben's hometown of Partridge, Minnesota so he can be honored with the key to the city, where Ben learns to make peace with his past. Meanwhile in Pawnee, Ron is being sued by Councilman Jam for damages after punching him in the face. Chris and Ann try to figure out if they would be compatible co-parents.

When Leslie uses historical landmark status to save a failing video store, Ron opposes her intervention in the free market and the "bailout." The video store owner takes Leslie's advice to appeal to a greater audience by switching to XXX fare. Ann anxiously awaits an answer from Chris. Meanwhile,April asks Ann for a favor and Ann uses the opportunity to force friendship on April. Tom hires a new employee and has trouble managing her.

Leslie discovers that her email has been hacked by a reporter. Ben begins his new job with the help of April, Andy, and Tom. Ann decides that she wants Chris to be her sperm donor.
