  • A classic high school reunion episode.

    8.5
This episode serves to further cement Ron as a good guy who tries too hard, but will never break out of his old life. His Party Down team is catering a 20 year high school reunion which also happens to be Ron's reunion. His delusion is that if people see him catering the event as the team leader, they will be impressed and no longer think of him as the screw up loser he was in high school.

In other story lines, we meet Constance's roommate, played by the wonderful character actress Jennifer Coolidge, but the overall episode is brought down by the fact that Jane Lynch isn't in it. Casey also convinces Henry not to move back home with his parents in a two touching scenes at the bar and later by the staircase. Their chemistry comes as a surprise in this show, and I really enjoy it.moreless
  • Ron's High School Reunion

    6.5
I apologize to those who follow my blog as I suggested that people should watch Party Down (if they have not already) beginning with this episode. That was an error in judgment as there was no excuse for this.

The show has gotten to the point where Ken Marino and Adam Scott are funny enough to carry a weak plot, but being the penultimate episode of the season needs to be better than this.

In other news: Party Down has been renewed for a second season. Up next week is Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell guest starring on the program. Hopefully that brings in some viewers.moreless

    • Melinda: Ron, the name tags are just for the people at the reunion.
Ron: Yeah, I know. I sat behind you for two years in Social Studies. (checks the back of Melinda's head) Oh my God, the back of your hair still looks wonderful... Ron Donald? I coughed a lot.

    • (talking about the number of times one should smile per day)
Kyle: Hey did you say 50 times? 'Cause I always thought it was 90 times.
Bobbie: No. No, 90 would make you go insane.

    • Steve: Wow, Don, last I remember, you were puking all over that...
Ron: Oh, who wants to talk about the past? It's a reunion, right?

    • Bobbie: Did you know that dolphins can change a babies diaper underwater?
Henry: I don't think that's true at all.

    • Bobbie: Grab your destiny by the balls and squeeze hard. I'll bet you've never done that in your career.
Henry: No, I wouldn't even know where destiny's balls are.

    • Melinda: I was like this ambitious achiever... gonna be a senator and change the world!
Ron: Yeah, right? I mean who was that crazy kid with those dumb ideas? I was gonna collect more frogs than anybody else in the world.

    • Melinda: I mean, you might've told me you were married before I fucked you.
Mark: Would you have fucked me if I told you I was married first? Gotta split. Good seeing you, Melissa.
