Ep. #1972
AIRED:
As Whitney walks through the hallways of the courthouse, a piece of marble almost falls on her, but she is saved by Chad. Later, when Eve is walking by, she checks them out and suggests they go home and rest. After Eve leaves, Vincent surprises Whitney and asks her again if she really plans on telling Valerie about his affair. Back at the courthouse, everybody is shocked to find out that Grace Nancier is the new D.A. and picked a jury that will undoubtedly hand down a death penalty. Ethan then gets disgusted when Judge Reilly continually sides with the D.A. whenever he makes object. Grace Nancier then tells Fancy she is her star witness and will be sending Luis to the death chamber with her testimony. At home, when Tabitha tries to explain why Endora needs her witch lessons, they get interrupted, first by the Lopez-Fitzgerald trial appearing on the blackboard, and then by Julian. When he threatens to take Endora away from Tabitha if their daughter doesn’t get into an elite preschool, Tabitha throws him out.moreless

  • This episode is a prime example of why the show has such horrible ratings.

What can I say about this episode of Passions? The first thing that comes to mind is that if NBC is wondering why the show has continually been getting horrendous ratings, it’s due to episodes like this one. The April 11th episode disgusted me so much that I am tempted to tune out of the remaining episodes of the series and never find out how everything gets played out before the finale. Yet, with this continuous train wreck of a storyline it is making me and probably others tuned in to see how bad the writing can be.

Another thing that I loathed about this episode was how they took my two favorite characters (Endora and Tabitha) and gave them a cute storyline for about five minutes and then turning it into one almost as boring and pointless as Whitney and Chad’s storyline involving Vincent. At first I thought it was neat the way the writers where going to have Endora hone her magical skills under the watchful eye of Tabitha. Yet the writers saw this as another opportunity to get Julian to meddle in their lives and threaten to take Endora away from her mother. Fine, if Julian wants to see his daughter, try not to make Tabitha so furious during their visits that she has to throw him out the door.

Now, onto the storyline that is infuriating me the most: that of the blackmailer and the joke that is called the Lopez-Fitzgerald trial. James E. Reilly and the other staff writers are doing a superb job of making a mockery of the U.S. Judicial system with this storyline that it is sickening to watch. Luis and Miguel getting sent to prison and death row for crimes they didn’t commit, just so this “half-man/half-woman” blackmailer could have Ethan all to themselves is beyond pointless. And as for Whitney and Chad’s storyline, all I want to say is end it now and have Whitney kick Chad’s cheating rear-end to the curb ASAP, let him be miserable with Vincent.

In all, I find it to be extremely disappointing that the creator of Passions is turning a soap opera that had potential of being an entertaining daytime drama, into a complete and utter joke. I’d love to say that I hope things improve after this episode, but since there are only a few more months left before going off the air, I doubt that will happen.moreless
