Paul Merton's Life of Comedy

Show Summary

Paul Merton's Life of Comedy is a biography series starring British comedian Paul Merton as himself, re-enacting his existence and presenting to viewers the people who had the greatest influence in his life. The British Broadcasting Company produces the six episode series, starting the season with a young Paul (Tom Brodie) living in his granddad's home with his mum. After the boy gets into trouble with an obnoxious neighbor (Tina Martin), granddad gives him some advice, which Paul carries with him for the rest of his life. In the next segment, an adolescent Paul (Brodie) enters the last year of secondary school, and Paul's dad (Merton), who no longer lives with the family, tries to reconcile with his son. During his teenage years, Paul learns some valuable lessons from a local police officer (Frank Windsor). By mid-season, the boy grows up to be a man and marries Lynn (Martin) who looks oddly like his old neighbor. Married life confuses Paul, who goes through a mid-life crisis by the end of the season. His crisis soon will have him looking for a way to live happily ever after.
