The First Date: Part 4
It was now Saturday, and the big date finally came. Nemo, who held some flowers he planted for Pinch, walked towards his girlfriend's home. He knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answer. He showed how nervous he was by sweating all over the doormat and gulping. The door finally opened, and it was Wanda who answered it.
Wanda: Are you alright, dear?
Nemo: Yes ma'am, I'm just a little nervous. Is Pinch ready for our date?
Wanda: Hang on, I'll see. Pinch, honey, Nemo is here.
Pinch walked towards the front door and noticed the puddle of sweat on the doormat, as if it had been raining.
Pinch: Did it rain, by any chance?
Nemo: No, that's a sweat puddle, mine. Anyway, I planted some flowers for you.
Pinch: Thanks, Nemo, they're beautiful! (Sniffs flowers.) Ooh, and they smell good!
Nemo: And I packed us a picnic lunch.
Wanda: Well, you two have fun.
Pinch: Thanks, mom, bye!
Nemo: See ya later!
The two lovers made their way to a private, grassy area where they had their picnic. The two prepared the blanket and laid out the food. It consisted of PB&J sandwiches, chips, soda, and a couple of wine glasses that they could put their soda in. Without further delay, they finally ate and talked. After their meal, they relaxed and talked some more. Nemo sat on the blanket Indian-style, and Pinch laid on the side of her body. The young lovers were admiring the beauty of the day.
Nemo: Isn't it beautiful?
Pinch: Mm-hmm. I knew that today was the right day to this. It's almost as if God wanted this to happen, all for us.
Nemo: I agree. God can do some amazing things.
Pinch: Sometimes the beauty of nature can make you feel different. It can just take away the bad feelings and make you feel the good ones.
Nemo: Wow, I never thought of it way. After all, I ama city raccoon. I never take the time to enjoy the finer things in life.
Pinch: Well, now that you're living in the wilderness, don't you think you should?
Nemo: Yeah, I really should. But I can never do it because I get so distracted by music and other stuff. But from now on, I'm gonna start taking the time to start enjoying this beautiful world of ours, and see what I've been missing.
Pinch: That's great, Nemo.
Nemo: And I'm gonna start right now. Would you care to take a walk in the forest with me?
Pinch: I'd love to.
Nemo: Then let's go.
Nemo stood up and helped his girlfriend up, and the two of them put the picnic blanket, the wine glasses and everything else back in the basket. Nemo spotted a trashcan and the kids put their trash in there. They headed to the forest while holding each other's paws. Nemo was carrying the picnic basket in his paw, and Pinch carried the flowers Nemo picked in her paw.
