Episode Summary

EDIT
Some of the walls in Merion Station, Pennsylvania are covered by the original works of the most celebrated painters the world has ever known. Philadelphian Albert Barnes began collecting modern art in 1912 when he sent a friend to Paris on a mission. A painter in his own right, William Glackens returned to the states with work by Renoir, Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Picasso. Barnes continued to acquire art throughout his life. In 1992, part of his collection went on tour and brought the Barnes name throughout the United States and France. Today, prospective visitors must make reservations in order to view the gallery in person.moreless
