  • A great example of why we love Peep Show so much!

Peep Show series 5 starts with a great example of what makes Peep Show so great.

Jeremy is trying to convince Mark to move on with his love life after his disastrous wedding to Sophie. As usual, Mark is not so sure about his friend's idea and there are some great exchanges and one liners as he tries to put the Sophie fiasco behind him. I really like the fact that Mark doesn't seem to understand that he was stood up by his date and tries to impress her anyway as only Mark can, by trying to be the tough guy and tackling a burglar that he finds in the flat. Once again it is Jeremy that agrevates Mark as he tries to let the burglar go and starts to talk to him. This episode kicks the series off really well and reaffirms the characters of Mark and Jeremy and their foibles.moreless
  • Season five opens with an absolute humdinger of an episode!

Peep Show amazes me sometimes, and this episodes shows everything about Peep Show which makes it so hilarious. Its witty one-liners, its uncomfortable situations and its brilliant characters make this yet another Peep Show episode which never lets up from the laughs.

It opens with the aftermath of Mark's wedding, and the wine with his and Sophie's photograph on which Jez describes as "just a great all-round package". Soon Jez is organizing a double-date for him and Mark, and Mark's general indecision about whether to go on the date. Soon Jez decides to get rid of the "Megatron", which is four remote controls taped together, and Mark gets very emotional about the whole thing. Jez later says that the Megatron gives people the impression that they are both "sofa masturbators" which I literally couldn't stop laughing at.

To be honest, I could talk forever about this episode, having already nearly filled this text box. Its just brilliant in every way, and there's so many funny comments and moments that made me laugh much more than anything else could. It is genius comedy. With the teenage robber who Mark takes down in an attempt to impress his date, Mark's feeble attempts at impressing her, and Jez's refusal to tell Suz that he has chlamydia in order to have sex with her, you can hardly stop laughing.

And the final scene is genius. Jez ecstatic that Mark is actually restraining him as he is pushed to the floor. The look on his big smiling face and his happy voice as he speaks sends the episode into a fitting ending.

Such an awesomely good episode, and I am so excited for the next episode and the rest of the season. These two never cease to amaze me, and they are fast becoming my favourite comedy duo since the great Two Ronnies. Genius stuff.moreless
  • Mark gets back into the game; Jeremy gets chlamydia. The Peep Show is back, you guys!

The episode was not the best of the best, but regardless a fun watch and it made me realize that indeed, I have missed this comedy show. It's a very typical Peep Show episode, but nevetheless an entertaining one, and one thing I think people will enjoy a lot is the fact that the situations take once again mainly place in their apartment. S4 was basically "Mark and Jez on adventures" so bringing the show back to its original environment was great; it suits the show so much better.

Now that they do return home, their home gets violated - it's exaggerated but hilarious to watch them fumble with a youth delinquient, utterly scared of the kid. It's also quite sad. Mark and Jeremy are definitely characters who dance the fine line between hilarious and pathetic so many times. Lucky for us, they usually end up on the right side. Best quote? Jeremy's "Oh my GOD, you're actually attacking me!".moreless
