  • I love Peep Show and have Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD but this episode was not so hot.

    5.0
I'm a big Peep Show fan but this episode was poor.

The return of Big Suze was a season too late and Jez's pining for her has lost all it's comedic heat.

Add to that that Jez is going out with Michelle who seems fairly successful (she is looking for a lodger thus has a decent sized abode) so why is she with a loser like Jez? Her character is not developed which gives the final punchline of the episode less of a kick. How and why did Jez get her?

The whole Sophie and Mark thing is getting a bit repetitive.

I love the show and have the first two seasons on dvd but this episode was poor and badly written.moreless
  • Still great.

    8.0
When you've created a sitcom whose second season succeeds in being more successful and popular than its predecessor, the pressure is on to really deliver with the third. While this episode's storyline is slightly less believable than previous ones (Mark can't get an erection after having his phone mugged), the character POV camera angles and inner monologues preserve the edge that makes this show so disturbingly hilarious. The main reason Peep Show works so well is of course because of the excellent performances of its two stars, David Mitchell and Robert Webb. Both are unafraid of seemingly totally worthless and pathetic, but succeed in creating a level of fragility that makes you feel a surprising amount of sympathy towards them. Recommended.moreless
  • The return of Peep Show.

    9.0
Peep Show returned to Channel 4 tonight, the third series of the two misfits Mark and Jeremy. A year older, not a lot has changed, and the same intelligent formula of entertainment remains.

Mark is mugged in this episode by two teenagers, presumably while on his way home. They tell him they want to make a phonecall using his phone, but it soon turns to them demanding the phone, and any money he has. Things never get physical, but Mark, the shy, unconfident minor that he is, hands over the items relatively quickly. When told to run, he does so.

We know he doesnt approve of the situation, there's no doubts that what is happening is wrong and that he's a coward. His physical actions and mental thoughts contradict each other as always though, and he spends the rest of the episode worrying about what's happening to his phone and calling himself a coward. Usual Mark then.

Similarly, Jeremy hasn't changed much either. Drunk during the day, getting mouthy, part of a threesome, again, just another day in the life of one of the main characters. His character still funny however, Jeremy's thoughts and actions are a joy to watch, and much more reassuring than Mark's low self-esteem.

Not a lot has changed, and it seems that for now, not a lot ever will. Welcome back Peep Show!moreless
