Erich Matthew Muller was born on June 21, 1966 to salesman John Muller and homemaker Dawn Muller. His background is made up of German, Italian, and Apache heritage. Mancow received a degree in Theater in 1900 from Central Missouri State University before starting his career in radio at KOKO-AM, a one-kilowatt AM radio station in Warrensburg, Missouri. Later he took the job as an assistant to Randy Miller, a disc jockey in Kansas City, Missouri at station KBEQ-FM. This lead to Mancow's becoming a part of the morning show, Holy Moly & Maxx, on Kansas City's KMOK. Mancow made national headlines in 1993 while working for radio station KYLD-FM in San Francisco, California. Mancow staged a parody of how former President Clinton had tied up traffic on an LAX runway for over an hour because of a haircut on Air Force One. Mancow used vans to block the westbound lanes of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge during rush hour, while he got a haircut. The stunt resulted in Mancow being prosecuted. He was sentenced to a $500 fine, 3 years probation, and 100 hours of community service. A $1.5 million lawsuit was eventually paid to a bridge commuter by the radio station. After leaving California, Muller was offered a job at Chicago's WWBZ-FM, "The Blaze." The station soon changed to become "Rock 103.5," WRCX-FM. July 1994 was the debut of Mancow's radio show, Mancow's Morning Madhouse. After just two Arbitron ratings periods, the station went from 19th to #5 in the morning show category among all teens and adults, including a #1 ranking among 18-to-34 year olds. In 1998 In 1998, he moved his show to WKQK-FM, the city's foremost alternative rock station and to the Merchandise Mart building, where the show was broadcast. The station continued to carry the show for 8 years until July 11, 2006, when the station announced that they would no longer carry Mancow's Morning Madhouse after July 14, 2006. The show is still broadcast from the Merchandise Mart building and can be heard in 8 nationwide radio markets, or over the Internet with a paid membership at http://www.mancow.com/, from 5:30-10am (CST), Monday-Friday. Mancow was contemplating a 2001 run for lieutenant governor of Illinois, but later changed his mind, stating that it would be a step down from radio. On February 14, 2003, Mancow married his wife, Sandy Ferrando, who is a former publicist. It is said Mancow met his wife at La Scarola, an Italian restaurant in Chicago that Mancow is a regular at. They are the parents of two twin daughters named Ava Grace and Isabella Sofia Muller. Mancow is also a regular guest on the Fox News morning show, Fox and Friends.
