  • Balki falls in love with Carol. Larry believes Carol is just using Balki in order to pass a class. He tries to warn Balki, but Balki thinks he's jealous. When Carol breaks Balki's heart, Larry is there to comfort him in a very touching scene.moreless

I dare you to watch this episode and not be moved or touched by it. It is one of the rare moments Larry truly has Balki's best interest at heart and not some ulterior motive. The guy's friendship is really seen here. The ending scene actually has emotion in it instead of Larry talking down to Balki about American culture. Bronson Pinchot does a great job with protraying a broken heart without over-doing it. Too bad there aren't more episodes like this; the show could have been a really great sit-com like M*A*S*H that makes you laugh and cry during the same episode.moreless
  • Balki think he's falling in love with the right girl but she turns to be totally wrong for him.

    9.0
Since Perfect Strangers was a comedy show this was an episode that tried to add real drama in terms of Balki's outbreak when he realizes the girl he likes isn't what she claims to be.

Balki meets a hot blonde girl from his class and falls for her. Balki is easily swayed over by women even going back to the first couple of episodes with Susan. Here he takes things further and goes on a date with her.

Cousin Larry smells something rotten with his new date and it turns out he's right. The girl Carol (or whatever her name is) turns out be a bit of a slut who will literally do anything to break into entertainment business. The actress playing her has the memorable line "nudity is no problem".

Larry tries to tell Balki but Balki takes his advice as a sign of jealousy on his part. As I said this starts of the drama part of the episode.

Bronson Pinchott as Balki pulls off a decent performance at the end when he's heart broken over being so easily fooled by this woman. It results in a great poignant moment where Larry comforts and tells him the pain will go away in time.

Like I said even though it's a comedy show it's episodes like these that made Perfect Strangers more than just a comedy sitcom where the characters do stupid things for laughs. Instead the writers did a great job of adding depth to the characters and making them real.moreless
