  • Charming episode, one of my favorites of the entire series.

Ramona Carver is an actress traveling with a troupe of players who perform readings of Shakespeare ("The Company of Four"). She is blunt and somewhat eccentric, yet lovable in her own way. She is also a personal friend of Perry’s and has enlisted his help on several occasions in her search for the son she gave up for adoption 23 years earlier (the search forms an interesting subplot in this episode). As The Company tours the southwest, Romona happens upon an old nemesis, Ogden G. Kramer, in Santa Barbara, CA. Years earlier, Kramer had been a Broadway critic who wrote a scathing review of Romona's debut performance. She retaliated by having him drummed out of the critics corp for unethical behavior and there has been bad blood between the two ever since. Kramer now heads the drama department at a local university and when he turns up dead following The Company's performance, Romona is the prime suspect and Perry must come to her rescue.
