  • Backstory saves the day

Once again case of the week: average. However Finch's backstory captures our undivided attention.
  • same problem and the same result all the time!

really good this series.. is more like a predictable when you have the same problem and the same result all the time!! (like a: machine find a problem and John reese resolve with the help of Ben.. ops, i mean Harold ) but im sure that is going to change.
  • LOST fans, your ride is here!

Now we begin to see the ole Abrams style taking stride...if you're still going through LOST withdrawal, then Person of Interest will probably scratch that itch. Episode 2 "Ghosts" gives us the first flashbacks of the mysterious Mr. Finch, as he collaborates with tech-financeer Ingram to create the omniscient Machine. Reuniting Michael Emerson and fellow "other" Brett Cullen, this backstory contains the same themes of moral ambiguity that made these actors famous playing Benjamin Linus and Goodwin Stanhope. We come face-to-face with issues of justified paranoia, the quantified value of human life, and the ethics of the puppetmasters pulling the strings.

Beyond the higher-minded elements of the show is a pretty solid action-suspense story, full of the twists and turns that has become Abrams' hallmark. It's all very fast-paced and keeps you guessing, with some interesting cinematography used to represent the eyes and ears of the Machine. Jim Caviezel performs well as the action hero, although his almost superhuman skills and "nick-of-time" rescues do feel somewhat formulaic. But overall, Reese serves nicely as the blunt instrument acting upon Finch's intelligence...a good fit.

Plus, LOST fans may appreciate a program that actually gives you answers, without raising another dozen questions, LOLmoreless
  • From now on imma call this the episode of the 15yr old with the box cutter... she looked like 18 btw..

SO episode was good.. like i said it was funny with that girl having a box cutter as a major weapon.. that really gave jonh a major cut, she didnt looked like 15.. but well now shes likemillionaire with that land she owned thanks to the help of the computer, frinch aka herold and jonh.. lets not forget the corrupted cop that its on jonhs payroll . lol and thedetective carter that ... comes to a meeting point with a whole UC sting...

Of forgot to mention that .. ive noticed that on every episode jonh always gets beaten ... i mean on this one.. the fight at the laundry room was like... a hugedisappointingexperience.. if u are a #team jonh .. but i guess it keeps it real .. i mean he is not made of steel.. right?moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Trivia: As Ingram and Finch clash about the morality of the "irrelevant" categorization, you can see the machine has brought up Reese's (ex)girlfriend Jessica as a "person of interest."

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Reese: Took the liberty of booking the whole floor. Your card.
Finch: Guess I can use the miles.

    • Finch: Theresa's body was never recovered.
Reese: Uh, "presumed dead'? That's a reasonable assumption.
Finch: The police only see what they choose to look for. The Machine sees almost everything.

    • Reese: This was a professional hit. Muzzle impressions were made after the fact, made it look point blank, like the father did it. Cops missed it.
Finch: And you know that how?
Reese: That's how I would have done it.

    • Ingram: How are we supposed to live with this, knowing that someone out there needs help?
Finch: Well, we don't have to. I've coded the Machine. Every night at midnight, it deletes the irrelevant list. We didn't build this to save somebody. we built it to save everybody.
