      • Jonathan Winters was attending high school in Dayton, Ohio, (his home town) when, on his 17th birthday, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his return from service, he won a wristwatch in an amateur talent contest and gave up commercial art to take a contract with a local radio station as a disc jockey. He turned to television and New York. Now he's also a familiar figure on the night club circuit.
