  • The last customer left in a night club is strangled whilst a famous blind pianist plays. But he isn't really blind and he can identify the killer.

    8.0
The blind pianist looks just a little like George Shearing, and the nostalgia-quotient of this episode is increased still further when the scene moves to a beatnik hangout whose performing poet has distinct overtones of Corso, Ferlinghetti and all those boys. The mood is far more important to this episode than its mediocre plot, which the writers take only a sentence or two to explain. But the slickness of the direction (by series creator Blake Edwards) is several points above the average for American TV in the 50s, and viewers of a certain age will find the atmosphere very appealing. A pity Edie doesn't sing, though.moreless
