Kate is in a bind when a well-known travel writer believes the "Shady Rest" is a luxury hotel.
This installment is a good example of the typical misunderstandings of the early seasons, almost always caused by Uncle Joe's bungling. What makes it more fun is that all the women must pull together to somehow make it right. In this case, Uncle Joe has written pamplets to convince a bank to loan the hotel money, but they fall in the hands of a notorious culture critic who wants to confirm that the lowly "Shady Rest" has swimming pools, tennis courts, bowling alleys, and private baths.
Of course, the final solution to the dilemna is to somehow fool the woman, leading to unlikely scenarios of Betty Jo dressed for tennis, Bobbie Jo in a swimsuit, and Joe and the girls setting off sound effects in a storage room off the lobby that mimic a bowling alley. Predictably it doesn't work and results in an odd short scene where Joe attempts to woo the supposedly heartless newspaper columnist. It's all silly but leads to some laughs.
