This episode is a reunion, of sorts, for Bea Benaderet and Jean Vander Pyl, who voiced Betty Rubble and Wilma Flintstone (respectively) on the animated series The Flintstones, although the two didn't actually appear in any scenes together.

First time Betty Jo is shown to be pregnant, with much of the pregnancy having passed during the Summer hiatus the show was on.
The Hooterville Cannonball gets a new conductor/engineer, in a kindly elder man named Wendell Gibbs. Previous Cannonball runner Floyd Smoot is written off by it being mentioned he was "promoted" by the railroad company.
