Trivia

FILTER BY TYPE

  • Trivia

    • Grandpappy is never called by the name he's always been known by (that which he's even credited as), instead they call him "Grandpa" repeatedly.

  • Quotes

    • Uncle Joe: Now Grandpa, pay attention, because I'm only gonna tell you this once.
Grandpappy Miller: Don't you call me a dunce!
Uncle Joe: Sam, you tell him.
Sam Drucker: Grandpa, the whole idea here is, that you drive in the symbolic horseshoe stake. Now, what do you think of that?
Grandpappy Miller: What do I think of what?
Sam Drucker: Driving in the stake, the stake!
Grandpappy Miller: Oh, medium rare, with a little mashed potatoes on the side.

    • Uncle Joe: Grandpa, when I nod my head, you hit it...well, not my head...the golden stake.

    • (After Uncle Joe strikes oil while driving a spike, Grandpappy Miller hits him on the head, knocking him out, after which he dreams he's driving the jalopy from the Beverly Hillbillies, while the theme song plays):
Come and listen to a story 'bout a man Joe.
Struck it rich in oil and made alot of dough.
So he gathered all his kin, and his dog upon his knee,
and went to see the Clampett's in the hills of Beverly.

  • Notes

    • Two guest stars from "Beverly Hillbillies" appear. The man who paid the Clampetts for their oil claim (Frank Wilcox, is a similar role here), and the show's famed truck, which appears in a 'Hillbillies' parody scene.

  • Allusions

    • When Uncle Joe strikes oil, his dream parodies the opening sequence from the show Beverly Hillbillies, in which Joe is riding in the old jalopy from the show, with all his "kin" riding along, and even his own version of the theme song plays (which is included in the quotes section of this episode)
