The show's focus was on Angela Goethals' character, Angela Doolan, a teenager training to be a professional tennis player. Her pushy coach Lou tries to keep her on track and way from ordinary teenage distractions. Her mother, Dianne Doolan, tries to let her "Phenom" have an ordinary life. She strives to be the best she can be at being a single mother. Angela also has a flaky brother Brian. He's the sensitive type that you just wanna hug and cuddle with, but don't let him do your homework! Last, but not least, is the little sister, Mary Margaret, who is quick with the tongue sword and puts the "fun" in this dysfunctional family! During the 1992/1993 season, the show was nominated for several Young Artist Awards. Nominations included: Angela Goethals for Young Actress in a Leading Role and Best New Television series.
