One of my favorite in P&F. The Interrogation scenes are nice... And the Brothers on the boat with the black outfit. Melodious song with Vanessary childishness. Never miss an episode

  • A personal favorite.

Deinfately one of my favorite episodes. You can't go wrong when you include Vanessa in an episode. And Phineas and Ferb were hilarious. Almost every one of Phineas's lines made me smile (I watch alot of old detective movies lol). And then when Phineas and Ferb go through all those different "cop-personas" with their outfit changing (I knew what 90% of them were alluding too lol). The song Vanessa song was funny and performed well; one of my favorites of the season. It was nice seeing Candace NOT try to bust her brothers for once, we don't see enough episodes like that. And the ending was just perfect. Vanessa taking the doll away from the little girl was both hilarious and unexpected. Showing a bit of her evil heritage lol. Great episode.moreless

The whole dectective theme in this episode wasnt all that,it wasnt, but i found it quite hilariouse when they were interveiwing Vanessa`s mom!Candace not trying to bust the boys as usual was a relief.Doofinsmhirk was a good dad in this one and "not so bad a dad" was a great and absoloutly sweet song.Vanessa taking the doll from the little girl was funny as @@@@ and it did show her evil upcoming. When she was all talking to her dad about it and we see her dad`s reaction.....it was just priceless! Overall,an awesome episode that goes down as one of my Favs.!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • McGuffin is a term for the object/plot element in a work of fiction that drives the story forward by making it the focus of the characters' attention; they will do about anything to get their hands on it. Like R2-D2 in the first half of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Of course in this episode, the McGuffin is the Mary McGuffin doll.

    • When Charlene Doofenshmirtz first talks with Phineas and Ferb she asks "Are you with the Census?" This could be a reference to the 2010 U.S. Census, which takes place the year after the first airing of this episode.

    • This is the third time Candace and Vanessa interact with each other. The first time was in S'Winter, and the second was at the end of Hail Doofania

  • QUOTES (2)

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (5)

    • The lost doll plot is similar to Family Guy episode "Road to Rupert", which Dan Povenmire directed.

    • Starsky and Hutch
Though the car driven by Detectives Ken Hutchinson and Dave Starsky was a 1974 Ford Gran Torino, the one driven by Phineas and Ferb was an AMC Javelin.

    • CSI: Miami
Phineas did Horatio's Caine's sunglasses gag and the screaming where the boys are traveling on the airboat is the same as the start of its theme tune, Won't Get Fooled Again by the Who.

    • While searching through the Charitable Charities stores, Phineas and Ferb use detective personas that parody Starsky and Hutch, Miami Vice, and CSI: Miami.

    • McGuffin is the term for a plot device that catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction. The term was coined by Alfred Hitchcock, who described it as "The mechanical element that usually crops up in any story".
