Episode Summary

Season 2 Episode 1
The club has burnt down (rival Den Perry did it) and Brian has been barred from holding a licence due to safety shortcuts and insurance fiddles. But, inspired by old mate Hoss Cartwright (Jim Bowen) who runs Blackpool's La Ponderosa, Brian has plans for a revival. He needs the help of his former employees, especially Jerry St Clair, who has been reduced to the role of singing salesman at Asda.       • Kenny Senior alludes to the Chinese martial artist and actor Jackie Chan, and American martial artists and actor Chuck Norris.

      • The name of the club 'La Ponderosa' and the nickname 'Hoss' for Frank Cartwright are allusions to the TV series Bonanza. The show was set on Ponderosa Ranch, and Ponderosa was also an alternative title for the series. The character Eric Cartwright was nicknamed 'Hoss'.

      • The flowers with a sign 'In Memory Of Alan' are an allusion to the Coronation Street character Alan Bradley, who was hit and killed by a Blackpool tram. He was played by Mark Eden and appeared in the soap between 1986 and 1989.

      • The title of the Bob Carolgees episode is Mummy's Baby, Daddy's? Maybe which is a lyric fro the song Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy by Kid Creole and the Coconuts.
