This cartoon was first aired as part of episode 4B which featured the cartoons "Pinky & The Fog" and "Bubba Bo Bob Brain". The latter cartoon was a rebroadcast of a cartoon first aired on Animaniacs. The gag credit for episode 4B is: Yerk - to beat someone vigorously. Later, in syndication, this episode was aired as part of episode 4 which featured the cartoons "Pinky & The Fog", "Where No Mouse Has Gone Before", and "Cheese Roll Call". The gag credit for episode 4 is: Psaphonic - planning one's rise to fame.

Pinky and Brain being at an old time radio drama was likely a subtle nod to actor Orson Welles, upon whom the voice and mannerisms of Brain was based. Before hitting it big as a film director and actor, Welles was a prominent figure on radio, often lending his distinctive voice to various radio shows, the most famous being his 1938 adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel The War Of The Worlds.

Episode Title: Pinky & The Fog The title of this episode is a reference to the radio drama The Shadow. The Shadow was a masked vigilante with the power to cloud men's minds.
