Place the Face

Show Summary

In this game show, contestants had to identify people from their past that they had encountered during specific situations. They had a short time limit to "place the face." The show started out using everyday people as contestants, but soon featured celebrities. Throughout the game play the host offered comical clues to help the contestant and keep the audience entertained. This weekly prime-time game show was originally hosted by Jack Smith. Later Jack Bailey assumed hosting duties. Finally the job went to prolific game show host Bill Cullen.

The show ended its run on CBS on August 26, 1954, but was picked up by NBC two weeks later. After just two months NBC cancelled the show, but brought it back in June 1955 as a summer series, with Cullen returning as host.

During the show's run Bill Cullen lived in New York and traveled to Los Angeles to act as host.
