  • The lives of a working-class couple are changed - for the worse - by a massive football-pools win.

    8.0
Keith and Viv Nicholson ticked the "No Publicity" box whenever Keith sent off his football pools, but when he won - and won big - their request for privacy was blatantly ignored. Their lives weren't very happy when they were poor, but they were destroyed when they became rich. The decline of this likeable, not very bright, proletarian pair into a pair of vulgar, obscenely extravagent drunks headed for inevitable bankruptcy was a shocking one, and Susan Littler (a fine actress who died far too soon) and John Duttine managed to keep audience sympathy despite all the Nicholsons' excesses. This terrible true story was later adapted for the stage.moreless
