  • A hired assassin makes the mistake of getting too close to his intended victim.

Although "Playhouse 90" was the most famous American anthology series of its day, it was never screened as a series in Britain (even though most of the top American shows of that time did get UK airings). But, oddly, two segments from the show's first season were screened, not as part of a series, but as one-off dramas - the other one was "The Blackwell Story", which was shown on British TV in the late 60s, in a Sunday-afternoon slot usually reserved for an old movie. (Indeed, it was advertised as such). It's an awfully long while since I saw "So Soon to Die", but I still remember being convinced by its British atmosphere and by the British accent affected by the show's American leading man, Richard Basehart (who had done film work in Europe). In fact, I thought at first that it had been taped in London. Are any of these shows available on DVD?
