This reality show set up 10 men to court a woman but did it with a twist. Some of the men were gay and if our heroine picked a straight guy she and her date would split a 100,000 pound prize. However if she picked a gay man, he got the whole prize.
As you’d expect some of the guys seemed more gay than others but nothing was guaranteed to be as it seemed. The writing was corny but the appeal was there. Would the viewer be able to pick out the gay men from the straight?
This show had the potential to get really viscous but it seemed to stay away from it far better than the abortive US version of this show. As a gay American I had a double challenge… was what I was seeing gay behavior? Or just Britishness?
Yes, this is mindless entertainment and most of the magic is added in the editing but I watched and enjoyed. Though it was a bit of a guilty pleasure.
