    • This episode set The Guinness Book of World Records for "Most Seizures Caused by an Animated Television Program".

    • This episode was dubbed by 4Kids, but was prevented from airing.

    • Nintendo got slapped with the blame after this episode caused the seizures.

    • This episode was never commercially released, even in Japan. Also, it never aired as a rerun.

    • The seizures caused by this episode caused Toei to drop the strobe effects from Pikachu's electric attacks. Also, a disclaimer to be placed at the beginning of video releases warning about possible seizure-inducing moments, despite the strobe effects already being gone.

    • There was originally going to be a New Year's Eve Episode of Pokemon. It was never shown, not even in Japan due to this episode. This episode also caused thr Japanese version of the show to go on hiatus. Also because of this episode, Porygon has never been seen in the anime after this episode except for a small cameo in the opening sequences of the first five movies. Porygon's evolutions have not been featured in the anime as well.

    • When aired in Japan December 16, 1997, more than 700 Japanese children suffered seizures, vomiting, irritated eyes and other symptoms after viewing Pikachu shocking some vaccine missiles and made them explode.
