EDIT
Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice
AIRED:

The legendary Pokémon Keldeo is an ambitious young Pokémon. Its dream is to join the Swords of Justice along with its friends, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion. However, upon training with each of them, they determine that Keldeo is nowhere near ready to be accepted into the Swords of Justice and battle the legendary Dragon Pokémon Kyurem. Keldeo meanwhile has other plans and during the night sneaks off to the abandoned mine where Kyurem resides and engages it in battle. Kyurem easily overwhelms the young Pokémon causing the Swords of Justice to try and intervene, only to be frozen in a block of ice by Kyurem. Terrified, Keldeo flees the scene and ends up crashing down a cliff and encountering Ash, Iris, and Cilan. They take Keldeo to a nearby Pokémon Center to heal and learn about what has happened to the Pokémon. Upon recovering they agree to help it return to the mine and save the Swords of Justice. However, Kyurem is on the hunt for the Pokémon, wanting to finish their battle and will stop at nothing to find Keldeo.

  • A simple story with usual Pokemon flavor.

    6.0
This movie was nothing surprising on the Pokemon front: Ash, Iris and Cilan get caught up in another adventure, this time with a new Pokemon called Keldeo - whose interrupted battle with a powerful dragon-type Kyurem has put Keldeo's friends at risk.

After a somewhat slow beginning with Keldeo desperately trying to prove itself, the story picked up and rolled steadily all the way to the end. The story itself wan't surprising, with Ash encouraging Keldeo to face its fears and the eventual conclusion which really shouldn't surprise anyone in this concept.

Team Rocket didn't get featured (other than in a blink-and-miss shots irrelevant to the movie itself), which helped the story to stay balanced and focused on its real goal.

Kuyrem was an interesting, dark Pokemon to meet. Would have loved to see more of that.

The Swords of Justice were less interesting, surprisingly enough, even though the idea of a Pokemon-equivalent of the Musketeers is amusing and inspiring.moreless
  • Now if it can only use its sword!

    5.5
And yes that is an actual line from the movie! I've been a Pokemon fan since it started in the US and know its audience stayed constant while I got old. :( The animation, music and storyline is a lot better than the normal TV episodes but it is still similar to the prior movies. Anyway, the simple plot is that a youngster Keldeo thinks he can defeat Kyurem but fails the first time. Ash comes by and helps him out so that Keldeo can use his full potential to fight Kyurem again. Zzzz... Interesting if you're in the targeted age group, but otherwise, watch something more adult!moreless
