Finally arriving in Viridian City, Ash is cornered by Officer Jenny who asks why he is carrying Pikachu instead of having it in a Pokéball. He explains that Pikachu doesn't like Pokéballs and shows her his Pokédex proving that he is one of the Pallet Town Trainers. Jenny takes Ash to the Pokémon Center where Nurse Joy begins treatment on the injured Pikachu. Before Pikachu's treatment finishes, however, the Center is attacked by two members of Team Rocket.moreless

    in this episode Ash gets to Viridian City Ash meets a Officer Jenny who asks why he is carrying Pikachu instead of having it in a Pokéball. He explains that Pikachu doesn't like being in a Pokéball and we learn that he is falling behind his riavl Gary. Jenny takes Ash to the Pokémon Center where Nurse Joy begins treatment for Pikachu and we meet the most annoying people of the show those Fu##ing Team Rocket and later on misty comes to blame ash for destroying her bike and later Ash and Pikachu defeat team Rocket and they think Pikachu is a rare onemoreless

    So the 2nd episode of Pokemon is an important one, introducing both Jessie, James, and Meowth to the series, who would be a running gag for the entire duration of the show from this point. The funny thing about this one is that Team Rocket are actually quite serious in this one compared to their usual comedy-ish routines, but nevertheless its a good episode.



    The episode begins with Ash running towards the Pokemon Center in Viridian City, before being stopped by an officer named Officer Jenny. She assumes that Ash has stolen Pikachu begins he hasn't got Pikachu in a Poke Ball. Ash confirms his identity to Officer Jenny with his Pokedex's Trainer ID. Ash and Officer Jenny quickly head to the Pokemon Center as Pikachu's condition gets worse.

    Ash arrives at the Pokemon Center, along with Misty who's followed him because of her bike being destroyed (as Ash's Pikachu destroyed it). Ash tells Misty that Pikachu is in critical health, and that her bike is not more important than that. Pikachu slowly recovers and Ash calls his mother back in Pallet Town. His mother encourages him that his days of being a Pokemon trainer will be better, just like his father's. Professor Oak phones shortly afterwards and is surprised at how fast Ash got to Viridian City. Ash tells Oak about the mysterious bird he saw earlier on in the sky, but Oak thinks he's lying because no one has seen it.

    Some posters outside and in the center reveal two criminals named "Jessie" and "James". The two vow revenge on those who posted the posters up, and Meowth is revealed to be part of Team Rocket as well.

    Team Rocket head to the Pokemon Center and attack inside, with the intent of stealing all of the Pokemon Center Pokemon. Nurse Joy attempts to transfer all the Poke Balls to Pewter City to try and save them. Team Rocket take out their Pokemon Ekans and Koffing to damage the inside of the center. A group of Pikachu's join up and Ash's Pikachu, almost fully recovered, sends a deadly Thundershock blast at Team Rocket, blasting them off into the sky.

    Team Rocket is later shown to have escaped on a balloon and they think Ash's Pikachu is worth stealing, and thinking it would be a great gift for their boss Giovanni. Meanwhile, Ash and Misty enter Viridian Forest and after encounting a Caterpie, Ash throws a Poke Ball at it (and the episode ends there).



    So this was a good episode to introduce Team Rocket in, and its actually quite a serious episode and I thought it was interesting to see how different the characters are from the beginning here. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good episode and this is the one which starts off the "Team Rocket's Neverending Tale Of Catching Pikachu" (oh wait... they still haven't captured him for good over the last 13 years when will they give up? Well, technically they succeeded in A Scare To Remember, wasn't that good enough for them? :P )moreless

    ash arives in viridian city and so does misty who is angrey at her bike being destroyed. and so she wont leave ash till he pays for it. so in the mean time they stick togeather she tells ash that he is not taking care of his pokemon right so they go to the pokemon center were he meets nurse joy for the first time. but team rocket comes and they want to steal the pokemon from the pokemon center . ash and misty and nurse joy must get them to safty by transporting them to other pokemon centers. around the air and the pokmon center gets meses up when ash starts to charge pikuch on a bike and it sets off a explosion and team rocket blasts off and away. and they leave to set off to the viriand forest.moreless

    • In the recap for the previous episode, Ash says, "That's right. I declare to the Pokémon of the world...I will be the greatest Pokémon trainer...the greatest Pokémon master...of all time!" But his original line was, "And I hereby declare to the Pokémon of the world...I will be a Pokémon master...Pokémon Master! That is what I'll..."

    • Misty joins Ash on his journey, and Team Rocket begins following him.

    • This is the first (and so far only) reference to Ash's father. He has yet to appear.

    • When the power Pikachu come out, who is generating the Power Supply?

    • When Ash says he saw a bird Pokémon (Ho-oh), he points to the wall with the Pokémon panels on it. He thinks he is pointing at the one he saw, but he really is pointing to Articuno.

    • Jessie: The cat lost to a mouse.

      Cats eat mice. The creators probably chose Meowth and Pikachu to make a reference to cats eating mice.
