The group arrives in Dark City, a seemingly dull town where they are attacked just because they are pokémon trainers. A restaurant owner tells them that the reason why people in the town hate pokémon trainers is because in Dark City there are two unofficial gyms that are trying to best each other so that they can be the official gym of the city. There battles are slowly destroying the town, so Ash, Misty, and Brock decide to help the townspeople stop the pointless fighting.moreless

Double gym war!

It was clever on how two gyms in Dark City are a big rivalry on each other and they just don't get it. They want to prove to each other to see who's better which it wasn't neccesary at all. The answer is none are better in any way. But why worry about that? Because my favorite part was when Pikachu was ketchup obsessed! Pikachu will rule the Ketchup kingdom!

Pikachu and the ketchup was so cute! The episode was a nice homage to Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo and its spaghetti western rip-off Fistful of Dollars. Who the heck were Ash, Misty, and Brock think they were fooling with those names? I wonder what they said in the Japanese. Nurse Joy was cool too.
